The color of ar0231-rccb-ss3323 camera is strange

Hi all,

I have an ar0231-rccb-ss3323 gmsl camera and I run sample_camera_gmsl to verify. I find the camera would recognize the red color as yellow or orange. Is it a hardware or software issue? Do I calibrate the camera for color correction? If yes, how?

Hello simon750324,

Could you check you are using PDK version?
If you are using Beta1.0, please see page10 in NVIDIA_DriveWorks_SDK_Release_Notes_0.2.1.pdf
and this issue had been fixed Beta2.0 so please update PDK to Beta2.0a(https://developer.nvidia.com/nvidia-drive-downloads) Thanks.

Hi SteveNV,

The PDK version which I am using is Beta2.0 already.

Hello simon750324,

Could you please re-try with below command? Thanks.
./sample_camera_gmsl --camera-type=ar0231-rccb

Hi SteveNV,

The result is the same. I also try ar0231, ar0231-rccb-bae, ar0231-rccb-ss3322, but also has same result.

Hello simon750324,

I’m not sure where the symptom comes from.
Did you also update Aurix F/W?
So could you try to re-run the app with another camera if you have? or same camera @ another camera port Group(DPX2 has 3 Groups(A, B, C))?

Hi SteveNV,

–Did you also update Aurix F/W?
I already upgrade the Aurix version. The version is 2.01.03 now.

–So could you try to re-run the app with another camera if you have? or same camera @ another camera port Group(DPX2 has 3 Groups(A, B, C))?
I have a ar0231 gmsl fish eye camera, but it doesn’t have this problem. I try all gmsl group(A,B,C) and they all has the same problem.

→ You mean you have extra one ar0231 GMSL camera and the camera doesn’t have any problem like above issue, right?

Hi SteveNV,

–You mean you have extra one ar0231 GMSL camera and the camera doesn’t have any problem like above issue, right?
Yes.

Hi SteveNV,

Do you have any idea for this problem?

Hello simon750324,

According to your test result, it looks like camera issue.
So could you please contact your local DrivePX2 distributor to check the camera? Thanks.

Hi SteveNV,

Before I contact local DrivePX2 distributor, can you help me check the difference of images again? Is it still a camera issue?

Hello simon750324,

Sorry I’m not sure the ar0231 capture you mentioned is abnormal or not.
Could you please compare the issued ar0231 camera and normal ar0231 camera capture not iphone? Thanks.

Hi SteveNV,

Here is the difference. For abnormal case, the red color would recognize to orange color or yellow color.

Hello simon750324,

Could you provide some info for the camera? Thanks.

  1. Both camera from us?
  2. Abnormal camera has narrow FOV vs normal camera?
  3. Abnormal camera is a Sekonix camera?

Hello simon750324,

One more thing, could you please take picture 5meters + away?
And could you send us photos of the cameras themselves with writing on the lenses if there is any? Thanks.

Hi SteveNV,

Could you provide some info for the camera? Thanks.

  1. Both camera from us?
  2. Abnormal camera has narrow FOV vs normal camera?
  3. Abnormal camera is a Sekonix camera?

Ans:

  1. I have no detail information for normal gmsl camera. I only know it has 190 degree FOV and its camera type is ar0231. And its exterior is as same as abnormal gmsl camera. The only one difference of exterior is that normal camera has fish eye lens.

2&3. The abnormal camera information is “60 degree Sekonix (SS3323) with AR0231 RCCB sensor + MAX96705 Serializer”.

One more thing, could you please take picture 5meters + away?
And could you send us photos of the cameras themselves with writing on the lenses if there is any?

Ans:

  1. The pic of range 5 meters + (I put a red fire extinguisher at range 5 meters +)

Hello simon750324,

Thank you for your update.
Can I get some more information for this? Thanks.
-. What exposure mode you were using : CAE or BAE?
-. If you were using nvplugin or some other plugin?
-. Did you tweak overrides.isp file…etc?

we have the same problem with Ar0231-rccb, the cam is also provided with our PX2 by nvidia. Local sales says that this is normal for the RCCB sensor.

I am not sure whether this is true but it certainly brings problem in development.

We also have the same issue the the Sekonix SF3324-100 RCCB cameras provided by NVIDIA. The red color seems to suffer most. With the 3322 profile, the color is slightly more vivid, but not quite correct.
The cameras also significantly overexposed with the default plugin settings and tone mapping.

Any info on this would be appreciated.
