tx1 black screen display issue

After start, Tx1 will display a lot of command lines , then it will alway remain in the black screen display.

I just input the SD card into the board and found that issue. It seems that can not recover.

so what can I do next to solve the issue?

If you type Alt-Ctl-F1, do you see again the text console with the boot output lines and login prompt, or is it black ?

If you unplug the HDMI for a few seconds and replug it (if your monitor has several inputs, select again the input where your TX1 is connected), any difference ?

So you can log in, and run dmesg to look at messages and try to look for errors related to display controler (tegradc).

You may also look if X server is running, and if not try to start it with command xinit.
Look for errors in file /home/ubuntu/.xsession-errors.

replug is no useful,hdmi is active state with black screen

how to run dmseg

Type Alt-Ctl-F1 for going to first console.
Log in (username: ubuntu, password: ubuntu by default).
Once logged in, just type dmesg (+Enter) in the shell.

Note also that serial console will allow running those commands without caring about whether video works or not (and if networking works, ssh would also work…serial console though has many advantages when only bits and pieces of a system are accessible). If interested in serial console see:

From what I see it should instead be working with the USB3 xhci driver. How old is this L4T? Check release via:

head -n 1 /etc/nv_tegra_release

Regardless, it notes a physical interface error related to power (and bus powered USB devices draw power from this), and then locks once the driver does what should be enumerating on USB. It kind of looks like something plugged into USB may be causing a failure. It looks like you have serial console, so perhaps try unplugging everything USB and see what happens…see if it gets further into booting.

R23.2 is old and works only with 32-bit on user space; unless you require 32-bit user space I’d recommend flashing to R24.2.1 (this is the current release, direct flash or the most recent JetPack would both install this). Do you require some form of backwards compatibility with older 32-bit?

The DSI part looks correct (Jetsons have both HDMI and DSI/eDP available even if you only have an HDMI connector).

Have you tried yet with all USB removed? I’m still curious about the USB PHY error listed earlier in combination with USB power error.

If you download JetPack, then JetPack will handle most downloads and setup for many extras. This requires your desktop host to have Ubuntu 14.04 on it. This has instructions with it.

If you just want to flash, then your desktop host can be any 64-bit Linux. In that case you’d download the “driver package” plus the “sample rootfs”.

In the case of just flash, you’d unpack the driver package. This produces subdirectory “Linux_for_Tegra”. Within that is subdirectory “rootfs”. You’d use sudo to unpack the sample rootfs into that directory. Once sample rootfs is there, cd back to the “Linux_for_Tegra” directory and use sudo to run “./apply_binaries.sh”. At that point you can put your Jetson in recovery mode (hold down the recovery button while tapping power up or power reset). Be sure to use the supplied micro-B USB cable for this. To verify recovery mode your host will have output from the command “lsusb -d 0955:7721”.

To start the flash, use sudo:

sudo ./flash.sh -S 14580MiB jetson-tx1 mmcblk0p1

Note that this takes time, and you should probably have about 25GB or more of free disk on your host before starting flash.sh.

Someone who knows more about WiFi will have to answer that. Mostly it is an “Ubuntu” admin topic, but there may be parts of it which are specific to a Jetson (most of what you find on the web for WiFi setup will be exactly correct on a Jetson).

Is the sudo failure on the Jetson? On a Jetson, if sudo does not work, it is usually because its permissions are incorrect. This will always happen if the sample rootfs was not unpacked sudo on the host (other failures occur if apply_binaries.sh is not run sudo). On your sample rootfs “rootfs/usr/bin/sudo” should show up as having these permissions via “ls -l sudo”:

On your host a user account must be part of the administrative group(s) to get full sudo access (see “man usermod”…it’s the “-G” option for adding supplemental groups). On some systems this is group “wheel” (check “/etc/group” to see if the group exists); on other systems it may be some other combination of groups. FYI, user ubuntu on a default Ubuntu install works as admin because of being in other groups besides its normal self-name group “ubuntu”. If you are on an Ubuntu system and need to be an admin, just look at all of the “/etc/group” memberships which “ubuntu” has (except of course group “ubuntu”…this is private to ubuntu and not related to an admin role).

FYI, the black screen for 2 minutes on shutdown is not normal. Quite possibly if permissions are incorrect this would be a side-effect. A serial console would show what’s going on during that time. If you want to use a serial console see this:
