TX2 / Jetpack 4.2 wlan0 missing

Hello,

I’m using Jetpack 4.2 with a Jetson TX2 and wlan0 is missing. I noticed from the network settings that the airplane mode was turned on, and I turned airplane mode off. That had no effect. rfkill only shows bluetooth. What should I see in dmesg that shows the wlan has been configured upon boot?

I also updated my DTB so that I could use USB3-0 and I’m using a display port instead of HDMI. Could burning the tegra186-quill-p3310-1000-c03-00-dsi-dp.dtb cause the wlan0 to be disabled?

Here’s the boot info from dmesg. I’ve reproduced this problem on another setup with my custom board. With Jetpack 3.2 the wifi does work. The missing wlan is only incountered on Jetpack 4.2.

I have a very similar issue with one particular TX2 and no resolution. We have several TX2s in the lab. I flashed the latest 4.2.1 Jetpack to this TX2 and I noticed that the wlan0 isn’t there. It wasn’t there on an earlier Jetpack install either. I tried to reflash over and over again. Every time, it seems to have installed everything correctly according to the SDK Manager. No issues. However, I get no wifi when I log in to it. I noticed in the logs that nv-wifibt.service is failing to start.

I flashed a few other TX2s using the exact same Linux laptop with the same Jetpack install, same everything. On those other TX2s, it asks you about connecting to WiFi during the initial setup. I think there may be something wrong with this TX2. It is under warranty.

Is there anything else I can try to do to get it to a pure vanilla, working state? Isn’t that what flashing does? Can there be some part of the memory that is untouched with the flashing?

I think you were right about the power. In setting up the DTS for my carrier card I inadvertently commented out the following in tegra186-quill-power-tree-p3310-1000-a00-00.dtsi

Re-enabling this seems to get wlan0 to come up. How did you know that the power was the problem?

Do you mean the modeprobe fails and you see some wifi errors in dmesg in #9,10,11?

You’re quite welcome. Take a peek at my dmesg 2/2 code post above. Scroll down to lines 59-98. You’ll see that it finds the adapter and tries repeatedly to set the power state to on, but eventually fails out and gives up. Looks like yours was a SW config problem. I’m not sure about why mine is failing.

Where was the file you referenced where you made that change? Is this a file that is overwritten when reflashing, because I’ve reflashed about 10 times and still have the same problem. Thanks!

We are talking a complete fresh install using the SDK Manager as described earlier. Doesn’t work right from that point on no matter how many times I try to reflash it.

Are there any ways to persist SW configurations during a complete SDK Manager-based reflashing? Any place that might be getting missed? If not, it is a complete wipe to factory settings.
