Ubuntu 10.4, install nvidia driver without nvidia card

Hi,

I’m new to CUDA programming. Now I’m trying to install eveything on my Toshiba Laptop with Ubuntu 10.4 which doesn’t have a nvidia card. I plan to use for developing and debugging in emulation mode.

I’ve read this Ubuntu 10.04 and CUDA thread. There is explained how to install gcc 4.3 and nvidia driver. My question is should I follow the same procedure? I think my X11 system doesn’t have to use the driver because my graphics card is another one.

Do you know what should I do?

Thank you,

Ignasi

You do not need to install the driver. Emulation mode does not require it.
