Problem: Unable to activate subscription for my new dgx spark device on the NGC platform due to frontend validation issue on dropdown elements for country, role and industry.
Goal: activate the new dgx spark device on NGC, in order to be able to authenticate with the NIM registry for downloading NIM containers through docker.
Up until now: I created an NGC API key without adding the dgx spark device. Authenticated with the nim registry at nvcr.io with the suggested docker command + predefined username and newly created API Key. Once I try to pull a model such as “docker pull nvcr.io/nim/qwen/qwen3-32b-dgx-spark:latest” I get the error from the docker daemon that I’m unauthorized.
This state led me to research and contacting NVIDIA support, who guided me in adding my dgx spark device as an Active Subscription on the link org.ngc.nvidia.com/activate.
I’m currently stuck at the activation phase, because the dropdown for country, role and industry doesn’t work. See attached screenshot. Same problem happens on Chrome and Safari on my mac and Firefox on dgx-spark device.
Please fix this activation UI issue and/or guide me on how I can add the device serial number to my acc and activate the subscription in a different matter, if possible.
As per support team instructions, after adding the dgx spark device on my NGC account, I will be able to re-authenticate with docker to the NIM registry and try to download the NIM container again.
@noah70 UI bug fixed. No one reported that it was fixed, but I tried the page again and the dropdowns work.
Result: I am able to submit the form. New problem for a different ticket is that an error pops up that my spark serial number is already used or on hold. So, I contacted support again and they escalated the ticket in a different thread.
Final solution for others that might end up here with this problem.
Final Staff Support answer:
DGX Spark does not require NGC hardware activation or serial number registration; the errors you’re seeing occur when attempting to activate entitlements that are not applicable to Spark. If you’re blocked generating an NGC API key, this is a known UI bug, please use the direct link https://org.ngc.nvidia.com/setup/api-keys as a workaround.
Conclusion:
dgx-spark doesn’t require any kind activation for access to NGC NIM containers.
the initial problem was that the initial NGC API key that I created didn’t have the proper rights to access to NIM NGC catalog. This happened due to a different UI problem in the Generate API Key form on this link https://org.ngc.nvidia.com/setup/api-keys. In short, a wrong form was shown which didn’t have the options for choose between Secrets, NGC catalog and Public API permission. (only NGC catalog permission is mandatory for pulling containers)
When you navigate to the link, the page should have the option to generate the API key, while mentioning the different permissions options. If you don’t see the permission options to choose when generating the key, you are in the wrong spot for dgx-spark.
Note: If you don’t see this, access the setup page from the top right corner, click on your account info / setup.
