Unable to boot and force recovery mode

Hello, I am using Jetson AGX Xavier, and I did some changes in the kernel file of eMMC. Now the system does not boot and I can not access to the force recovery mode. Below you can see the log file.

How can I fix this and go into recovery mode ?

Hi,

You don’t need to fix things before go into recovery mode. Recovery mode is hardware event. No software is involved.

If this is NV developer kit, then you only need to press button to enter recovery mode…

Also, in case you have a wrong concept. Recovery mode didn’t fix anything. It is just make the board able to get flashed by another x86 host.

Added clarification: Recovery mode in no way changes the Jetson, nor does it depend in any way on flashed software. Recovery mode turns the Jetson into a custom USB device which is understood only by the custom driver. That driver is known as the “driver package”, and runs on the host PC during flash (needed because Jetsons don’t have a BIOS). JetPack/SDK Manager is just a GUI front end to the flash software…the driver package. If a Jetson cannot go into recovery mode, then it has hardware failure. If a Jetson cannot boot, then it is likely just in need of flashing (you really can’t “brick” a system without a BIOS without trying through extraordinary effort).

The problem is accidentally I changed the extlinux.conf file and I don’t remember the actual PARTUUID. My extlinux.conf file is:

What should I do to fix this?

You could clone, fix this on the clone, and then flash the fixed clone. This isn’t too hard, but it takes a lot of disk space and time. Normally I advise people to test via an added entry in extlinux.conf, while leaving the original entry alone (thus having a backup boot option).

To get a clone, from the “Linux_for_Tegra/” directory:
sudo ./flash.sh -r -K APP -g my_backup.img jetson-agx-xavier-devkit mmcblk0p1

In the above the target expects an AGX Xavier dev kit. This will produce two files, my_backup.img and my_backup.img.raw. To find out more about this, including examples of loopback mount and examination:
