USB and LAN does not work at all due to EEPROM failure

I have almost investigated the problem’s solution, but I don’t know how to solve it.
I was using the GPIO I2C, and after I rebooted, USB and LAN suddenly stopped working. I can’t log in, and can’t use SSH, so I’m completely doomed. Before the log in menu appears, the kernel appeared to saying some kind of error about I2C. I was using a NVMe SSD and all my data was there, so I took off the SSD, and tried to flash the SDK via SDK manager. The host computer is a pure Ubuntu 18.04 machine, not a virtual machine. Connect via USB, and got into recovery mode, and the SDK manager started flashing. It looked good at first, but when the menu that you have to pick your user name and password, I got an error message “Default ip is not avaliable. Please make sure the default ip is shown in ip addr, or use a customer ip instead.”. I was using the default ip address, 192.168.55.1, but it didn’t work. So I closed the SDK, and managed to do it manually with a command “sudo ./flash.sh jetson-agx-xavier-devkit mmcblk0p1”, but got an error message again, “Parsing board information failed.”. After Googling, I added “SKIP_EEPROM_CHECK=”-n";" to “jetson-agx-xavier-devkit.conf”, and then ran the same command, and the installation completed. However, the same problem occurs, and USB doesn’t work. The same error message in the kernel appeared too. What should I do? And what should have I done when using GPIO I2C?

I would suggest you can use the uart console to see if you can still check over the log. Dump the full log with us first.

Since this is not usb interface, it may still work.

Generally, how modified eeprom affects the board is due to the board id is getting changed. And we have some mechanism which would use different setting for device tree if different board gets used.

However, I don’t see any kind of such setting would change the behavior over USB port in AGX Xavier. So need your log to let us know what is going on there.

Did you remember what did you use in this GPIO I2C? Did you ever change the module eeprom content?

You can follow the l4t_create_default_user.sh script in below link to create own user account. So that your uart console may login the device.

After boot into the system, use i2cdump tool to check the eeprom content, should be i2c=0 address=0x50.

If it cannot read the eeprom, then it is hardware problem.

If you can still read the eeprom, you can try to restore it by copying the content from other Xavier module.

No, I do not. This is my only AGX Xavier module.

I used GPIO I2C to control a motor ESC via I2C signal. The motor didn’t work since the ESC needed a 5V voltage, and AGX only produces 3.3V. I determined the I2C address with i2cdetect, and ran a Python script to control the motor.
Anything else related… I installed my NVMe SSD, and used as boot drive, using code made by jetsonhacks " rootOnNVMe".

Is there any kind of way to fix the problem? Or I am doomed? Is it possible to get a replacement?

If this is just wrong eeporm value causes failure, then you are already near the fix of this issue.
