USB Timeout when flashing AGX Orin

I am trying to flash the Jetson AGX Orin (32GB) and when running the flashing tool with sudo ./flash.sh jetson-agx-orin-devkit mmcblk0p1 or sudo ./flash.sh jetson-agx-orin-devkit-as-jao-32gb mmcblk0p1 results in the following timeout error:

Using the SDK Manager tool also gives the same error, and I’ve tried several USB cables connected to the front USB-C port on the Orin and they all behave the same.

The device itself appears fine in lsusb, so I’m not sure what’s wrong:

please do me a favor to dump the UART log from your orin during flash with below method.

Hi,

How you dumped the log is correct. But I need the log during flash error. Not the timing when you boot.

There is no output to the serial console after I put the Orin into recovery mode, even when flashing.

  1. I think your are using a ubuntu20.04 host as your flash pc , right?

  2. Do you have any other jetson (Orin/Xavier) on your side that you can flash and check if that host really can flash any jetson devices?

And one extra issue.

When you hit flash error, is your host side kernel log (dmesg) showing any new error?

  1. Yes, I’m running Ubuntu 20.04 natively (no VM)

  2. Perhaps, I will have to see if one is free

  3. In dmesg, no new error occurs when running the flashing tool but when looking at the log, there are USB errors sometimes (doesn’t always happen when I re-plug the USB port). I’ve already tried a couple different cables so I don’t think it’s a problem with the cable :

Can you run apt-get update on your host, reboot and test again?

I did try that and it still failed to flash, but using a different computer worked so it’s something to do with my current machine. I’m not sure if you have any other ideas
