USC-C port J40 not working

The flash port J40 on my Jetson AGX Orin Dev kit is not working. Running jetpack version 5.0.2.

I seem to get power from this port, but cannot communicate (usb mouse/keyboard won’t function on this port). I am also unable to flash using the SDK manager on this port. The device is detected, but flashing fails.

This issue seems similar: USB Type-C device mode problems, but I’m not sure how to apply the patch mentioned.

Thank you for the help. I have followed the steps, but the board fails to flash. I have the host connected to the j40 flash port (beside GPIO pins) and have followed the l4t_quick_start_guide.txt as instructed. The board is in recovery mode and lsusb shows:

I have not. I cannot get the Orin to flash. I have tried from an Ubuntu 20.04 host and an Ubuntu 18.04 host. Both give the error: “ERROR: failed to read rcm_state”.

The Orin is in recovery mode (held the recovery mode button while powering on). lsusb command shows:

The flash attempts to run but fails each time. Not sure what else to try.

Following this thread: Cannot flash OS image to Orin Developer Kit via SDK Manager - Jetson & Embedded Systems / Jetson AGX Orin - NVIDIA Developer Forums and recalculating and setting the 0x50 0xff value did enable the port. I am still unable to flash, but I can connect devices on J40 now. I would prefer to flash and apply the patch correctly.

Both the Ubuntu 20.04 and Ubuntu 18.04 hosts already had binutils installed when I ran the command. The flash still fails with the same USB timeout error as above.

Do you have other type-C to type-A cables for a try? Would suggest use another cable to connect Orin developer kit with the host PC. Probably the issue is specific to certain cable.

I have tried several USB-A to USB-C cables and a USB-C to USB-C cable. The Orin is detected with the lsusb command, but flash still fails with: ERROR: might be timeout in USB write.

Changing the 0x50 0xff checksum value mitigates the ERROR: might be timeout in USB write issue, but then I get “parsing board information failed.” I may be calculating the checksum incorrectly. The result of sudo i2cdump -y 0 0x50 is:

I think the original eeprom value is correct. The “usb timeout” error could be something else.

It is. The J40 port was not working and lsusb did not detect the Orin prior to changing the eeprom value.

Could you still boot up the device and share the boot up log? If your eeprom value is wrong, then the log shall tell.
