Hello everyone, I have encountered a very difficult problem and I hope to get everyone’s help. I have such a board on my hand. When using tx1 jetpack3.0, both usb2.0 interfaces can be used normally. When upgrading to jetpack3.1, one of them can be used normally and one cannot be used. When using tx2, both jetpack3.0 and jetpack3.1 can use usb2.0 normally.
The normal usb interface has kernel print information when there is a device access. This unusable USB interface does not have any response when the mouse is inserted.
the message kernel print out:

I’ve used that interface over many versions which worked…usually when something does not show up on USB of a devel carrier board there is something else going on at the same time. Is this the developer kit?
What does “lsusb -t” show with nothing plugged in to that port, and then again with the mouse on that port? If you move the mouse to the other port, what does “lsusb -t” show?
Of the devices used a keyboard or mouse will barely use any power at all, but sometimes USB power is insufficient for combinations of multiple devices or devices using more power (e.g., cameras and hard drives use more power). Be sure to try with all USB devices being only the minimal set (and then adding one device at a time). Better yet is to use a HUB which is externally powered.
thanks your answer.
1.nothing or plugged in to the board on the unnormal port with a mouse “lsusb -t” show:

they all worked normally.
In all cases the lsusb and dmesg output looked ok. Were any of those from a case of JetPack3.1 and the port where something appeared to not work? Keep in mind that other software also has configuration requirements for mouse and keyboard, e.g., the X11 GUI environment has additional software on top of USB. If your above information was from a case of something not working, then it isn’t the USB side which is failing…if this is the case, then it is the software using the device which failed.
There is not other software in my case.My case is appeared when update to JetPack3.1.I plugged two mouses in the board’s oorts, but it juest find one mouse.
Usually it must something print out when plugged into the board’s usb port with a mouse, like:
[69905.699444] usb 1-3: new low-speed USB device number 3 using xhci-tegra
[69905.730633] usb 1-3: New USB device found, idVendor=045e, idProduct=00cb

Nothing print out when plugged into the other port which is not working. The board can not identify the mouse.
Tip: If you are posting code (or “lsusb -t” which has indents for formatting), then you can highlight the code (or log output) with your mouse, and then click the “code” icon (looks like “</>”) in the upper right corner and formatting will be preserved…the indentation will remain and make it easier to see.
FYI, mice will show in lsusb as class “Human Interface Device” (HID). I’m trying to figure out how your particular setup is wired.
I’m looking closer at some of the logs and there is something of a clue. In the case where the mice worked you had this:
/: Bus 02.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=<b>root_hub</b>, Driver=tegra-xhci/4p, 5000M
|__ Port 1: Dev 2, If 0, Class=Vendor Specific Class, Driver=r8152, 5000M
/: Bus 01.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=<b>root_hub</b>, Driver=tegra-xhci/5p, 480M
|__ Port 3: Dev 3, If 0, Class=<b>Human Interface Device</b>, Driver=usbhid, 1.5M
|__ Port 4: Dev 4, If 0, Class=<b>Human Interface Device</b>, Driver=usbhid, 1.5M
This actually shows both mice on the same USB2 port (running USB1 speeds as expected). What seems odd is that both mice are direct connections to the root_hub without an intervening HUB (a root_hub is internal to the Jetson)…this isn’t possible unless a single mouse cable has two mice. It isn’t unusual for a programmable keyboard or mouse to have two listings because of the ability of the mouse to emulate a keyboard or the case of a keyboard being able to emulate a mouse. But this would be a single physical device. In this case where it works both mice are on the same USB2 port (the micro-USB port), but must be wired in some odd manner…I’ve never heard of two mice within a single physical USB cable. For this case how are both mice connected without an intervening HUB? Is there anything special about the mice, e.g., are they programmable (“lsusb -t” would not distinguish between keyboard or mouse when calling it a human interface device)?
For this “working” example the USB3 port was not used…the r8152 is irrelevant because it is internal to the TX1 module…it is the wired ethernet and can be ignored.
In the example where it failed I see:
/: Bus 02.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=xhci-tegra/3p, 5000M
/: Bus 01.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=xhci-tegra/4p, 480M
|__ Port 2: Dev 2, If 0, Class=Human Interface Device, Driver=usbhid, 1.5M
|__ Port 3: Dev 3, If 0, Class=Human Interface Device, Driver=usbhid, 1.5M
In this case the wired ethernet does not show up, but this is actually normal under some circumstances…more importantly, both mice are shown here. I don’t know why there would be no dmesg output for unplugging or plugging of the mouse if “lsusb -t” showed the mouse.
Somehow, in both working and non-working cases, two human interface devices are shown. If there is a keyboard there would be two mice plus a keyboard…three HID devices in total…without a keyboard there would be two mice…two HID devices in total. Something strange is happening.
Is there a HUB involved? Are any of the keyboard/mouse devices programmable? If you have two mice and you swap which mouse is in the full-size USB port versus which is in the micro-USB port, do both mice work when using the micro-USB port, or does failure follow a specific mouse?
Sorry, my description is not clear.
My carried board is making follow by “jetsonTX1_OEM_Product_DesignGuide.pdf”.
In my case the abnormal port is link “USB2_EN_OC#”.And the normal port is link “USB1_EN_OC#”.
Hi 1510738947,
Please share HW design of the USB2 pins(B39, B40, …)
Does the two USB2 ports USB2.0 type A?
Hi DanneLLL.
The two USB2.0 port are type A.
The normal port’s pins(A38,A39,).
The abnormal port’s pins(B42,B43).
Hi,
Can you share your device tree for r28.1? Do you have other USB2/USB3 port on your board?
Hi DaneLLL,
There are two USB2 ports on my board.
Which dtsi file is contain usb port?

Hi,
Do you configure device tree per oem design guide? http://developer.nvidia.com/embedded/dlc/jetson-tx1-oem-product-design-guide
Hi DaneLLL,
There is nothing about changing device tree in the oem design guide.
We just Connect pins(B42,B43) to usb(usbx_dp,usbx_dn)type A.
We do not change the device tree when tx1 setup with Jetpack3.0, but the port are working.
Which dtsi file I should change?
Hi DaneLLL,
Can pins(B42,B43) be used for USB port in JetPack3.1?
Hi,
You need to modify device tree to have (B42,B43) work on r28.1/TX1. Please refer to
https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/1023046/jetson-tx1/unable-to-recognize-any-devices-hooked-on-usb2-m-2-slot-/post/5210227/#5210227
Hi DaneLLL,
Thank you very much.
The port is working now.
I found a new question when I using hdmi. There is nothing display on the screen.
