USD file related issues

I encountered a problem when opening the usd file. The usd file could not be opened and displayed normally. The following error picture appears. I have tried to reset the Settings, but to no avail.

When I reset the Settings, the following error occurred.

It looks completely normal. Just OPEN a sample file. Like the car or the warehouse. You keep showing me the same screen but the YELLOW text are not errors. They are just warnings. You can totally ignore them. You only have a problem if you are seeing RED errors. It shows me your errors are zero. You are looking at the normal startup template. Now just open a demo file.

Ok, I don’t see examples in Showcases. I tried to download it, but kept waiting.

It seems pretty clear to me from your log that you have major internet access issues.

[omni.client.plugin] HTTP Client: http: libcurl error (56): Failure when receiving data from the peer for http://dcb18d6mfegct.cloudfront.net/Assets/Scenes/Templates/Default/SubUSDs/textures/CarLight_512x256.hdr

Where are you located ? You NEED to get your internet access completely open and unblocked. This proves it. You should have icons there in the Showcases tab and those files should open very easily. Make sure you have access to the Amazon S3 services.

This is why your app is taking SO long to start up. It should start in 20-30 seconds. You are taking about 10 mins to start. Because it is trying over and over and over again to access the required files. Is this a work machine or a private machine ? Are you behind a firewall ? Are you in China, Russia or Ukraine ?

Also

  1. your username is “Administrator”. Why? That may be an issue. Make a username with a real name.
  2. you are using the wrong video drivers. Please follow this link Technical Requirements — Omniverse USD Composer latest documentation

You’re right. i’m in China. Do I need a VPN? I’ll try again tomorrow as you said. Thanks for the answer!

Ok this explains a lot. A lot of users in China cannot use Omniverse because you need open and free access to many US internet sites. Amazon S3 servers for one.

Thank you. you helped me a lot. I am a personal user. If there are other questions followed up, I’ll ask again. However, I am curious why my local USD file opened without any interface. According to theory, he has no contact with the outside world. He is only concerned with my local service. Thank you for your answer, which resolved my doubt.

Because the actual usd composer app has not fully loaded because it cannot get to vital code that is stored live on servers. So even your local file will require it to “check in” with live servers. You need complete open access, whether it is a local usd file or not.
