USD composer has been correctly installed on both Linux and Windows 11 systems, but when I try to create a new file or open an existing one, the software crashes immediately.

here is a log in windows

So there are a lot of clues and issues in your log:

  1. Your install path is “F:\NVIDIA Omniverse”. It is not a good idea to have a space in the install directory. This could be an issue. You could try reinstalling to a better path. “Omniverse” etc.
  2. Your driver is not supported. You are using 546.80. That is far above our required drivers of 537.58 Technical Requirements — Omniverse Materials and Rendering latest documentation (nvidia.com)
  3. You have two gpus in your laptop. This causes so many problems. The Intel GPU could be causing issues. Can you disable it ? If not please make sure it is for ALL your DIRECTX, RTX and DISPLAY GPU. Do not use the Intel Gpu for anything. Assign everything over to the 4070.
  4. Finally, you have to have complete and open access to the internet. The log says it is trying to open some required files and it is getting blocked, from “http://dcb18d6mfegct.cloudfront.net”. Can you see if you can access “http://dcb18d6mfegct.cloudfront.net/Assets/Scenes/Templates/Default/SubUSDs/textures/CarLight_512x256.hdr

Thank you for your help. I can access files in 4.
And I reinstalled in a better path, reinstalled the required drivers of 537.58, disable a GPU and use only one GPU.
However, the same issues occured again. The software can create cubes and drag files in, but it still crashed when creating new files or opening existing filesw.

After I waited for the progress bar in the picture to load, the problem disappeared. But it will take quite a long time every time I opened the APP. I wonder if there is a solution.

This is the log I succeed after waiting a long time.

Looking forward to your help

Do you mean that once the blue progress bar loaded everything was working fine ? Well yes that is normal. You cannot attempt to use the program before its fully loaded. That will of course crash it. But my program starts in about 20 seconds “cold” and 10 seconds “warm”. If it is taking longer than that, you have an internet connection problem. Either a slow internet connection speed, or something blocking you, or a firewall etc.

OKay, thank you very much! I will try to find a solution based on the ideas you provided.
