VS Code not opening in Omniverse

Hi everyone,
I’m trying to open VS Code from inside Omniverse for a project, I cloned Omniverse from GitHub but the integrated VS Code option isn’t appear for me.

What happens

  • I open the project in Omniverse (Kit/Code).

  • The VS Code section/button is missing altogether. (I see extensions for it on the internet)

What I expect
VS Code should launch (either embedded or as the linked external editor) with the project/workspace loaded.

What I’ve tried

  • Reinstalled VS Code and confirmed the code command works from a terminal.

  • Checked Omniverse preferences to set VS Code as the default editor.

  • Restarted Omniverse and my machine.

  • Tried launching from different places in the UI (toolbar, menu, right‑click).

  • Opened other repos to see if it’s project‑specific.

Environment

  • Windows 11 Pro 64-bit

  • VS Code version: 1.105.1

  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090

Logs/Errors
I don’t see an obvious error in the UI. If there’s a specific log file or panel I should check for Omniverse → VS Code launch errors, please point me to it and I’ll share the output.

Is there a known setting, extension, or path requirement to make the integrated VS Code launcher work with projects cloned from GitHub? Thanks!

That is really not how this is best done. I would simply open your kit file in VSCODE and edit it how you wish. Then you should save it and launch kit. Then to edit it, you must close kit and make changes. For an extension, you can keep kit open, but we do not support hot reloading all the time, so you may have to disable the extension and re-enable it. Or just reload kit.
