I am fairly new to the CUDA concept so please bare with me. I have a Dell M4400 laptop running windows xp, and a Quadro FX 770M. I have tried installing the CUDA 2.0 and CUDA 2.1 drivers and get the infamous “…could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware…”. I saw threads refering to BETA CUDA drivers to get by this issue which appeared to be 2.0 beta flavored drivers, so shouldn’t the released 2.0 be ok? I also saw another thread suggesting that the CUDA 1.1 drivers would work for all CUDA enabled GPU’s and one could use the 2.0 toolkit/SDK although an undocumented feature?
You can pick any driver version you want from laptopvideo2go.com. They provide modified .inf file so that your device will be recognized and no errro message will will appear.
If have a similar problem. I can’t find any working driver for my NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphic card.
The mystery of this problem is: The 8600M GT is listed as CUDA enable NIVDIA product. But when I try to install the driver I get the same error message: “…could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware…”
I even tried the driver form: laptopvideo2go.com but exactly the same problem again. I also tried the original driver form dell.com and nvidia.com. => Same problem.
I found something interesting in the modes file (
). The 8600 GT is listed twice under index 0401 & 0402 is this a bug? Can i change one into 8600M GT? If yes, have this change any effects?
Can I run CUDA on a 8600M GT (only for first tests)?
Where can I find a working driver for this graphic card? (not for the 8600 GT Version)?
My System:
Betriebssystem Microsoft Windows XP Professional
OS Service Pack Service Pack 3
DirectX 4.09.00.0904 (DirectX 9.0c)
Motherboard:
CPU Typ Unknown, 2200 MHz (6 x 367)
Motherboard Name Dell Vostro 1500
Motherboard Chipsatz Unbekannt
Arbeitsspeicher 3072 MB
BIOS Typ Phoenix (08/02/07)
I have Acer 5920G with 8600M GT and it works fine.
Download driver from laptopvideo2go.com and run it, it will extract files somewhere. Next, download modded .inf for this driver from same site, overwrite original .inf with it. Setup should work now.
