Cant use Nucleus

I’ve made a scene in USD composer and I would like to move it to Unreal Engine to add some other assets.

I’ve tried to set up a nucleus server, but when I open it in the launcher I can only “Connect to a server” or “create cloud server”, whitch I don’t want, because I’m working on my own localhost on my drive. If I could create a server from there, that would make sense, but I don’t see that option. So I dont understand how i can add files to my local server. When I try to connect using USD Composer I come to the web browser log-in, I use the name and password that I set up when I installed Nucleus, but it won’t connect. Does someone know what I’m doing wrong?

Using Launcher, if you go to the Nucleus tab, and install Nucleus from there, you now have a Nucleus server and its services installed.

You now need to connect to this server, which is named localhost. Authenticate into that server with the username::password you created when you installed Nucleus, and you should be good to go.

Nucleus Workstation — Omniverse Nucleus

Hi there and thanks for posting. Hopefully with the above advise you can get your localhost Nucleus working. However, I do want to point out that you do not need a Nucleus server, local or otherwise to get content in or out of USD Composer. You can just import and export it as normal. Or just open usd files. Or use our connectors. But the Nucleus server is not required for any of that.

Secondly, as a personal comment, you building in Composer and then exporting your work to continue in Unreal? Normally people would do this in reverse. Build in Unreal or another DCC package and bring everything in Composer.

You say you are looking to add some other assets to your Omniverse project from Unreal. So why not export whatever other Unreal assets you need, out of Unreal into USD format, and bring them into USD Composer to merge with your existing project? Rather than trying to do it the other way around. It just seems it would make more sense to bring in some additional assets to join the main project, than export the main project to join the assets in unreal. Does that make sense? You have to use Unreal assets? These assets are not available as native usd files or fbx etc?

Hi! Thank tou for your help and suggestions, that makes sense :)

I did manage to log in to Nucleus now, but not using the username and password i set up, seems like the only way I can log into localhost is using «admin» as username and password. I found the solution in another forum-post.

Thanks again :)

Great glad to hear it. Let me know how it goes.
