Topic Description
Detailed Description
I’m trying to model a soft robotic finger. It is made of a deformable cylinder centerbone + ribs (rigid cylinder) at various height. The ribs are to be connected with tendons. Right now, the centerbone always collapses no matter how high the young modulus is.
Before running sim:
After several seconds, centerbone collapses
note centerbone is 4mm in diameter and 0.118m in length. It’s quite small.
Steps to Reproduce
- Run the attached script in script editor
finger.zip (9.2 KB)
I turned on self collision and it got better. Can someone explain?
But meanwhile it floats above the ground plane…
Should I make a hole on the ribs to let the centerbone through? or it doesn’t matter

Hi @hank.xuhaoyun, sorry this issue has been unresolved for so long. Are you still having issues with this? I have tried to reproduce the scene but am having trouble getting the deformable object to work. Have you tried to make the deformable object in the USD and then import it in the script?
