Failed to install isaac sim 2021.2.0 version

Hi Team,

I tried to install the Isaac sim on my ubuntu 18.04 env. It showed the following errors.
Would you please give me the advice to solve this issue?

Hi, please share the output of nvidia-smi

You can try running Isaac Sim directly with.

/home/nvidia/.local/share/ov/pkg/isaac_sim-2021.2.0/isaac-sim.sh

Hi

Here is the log file when I run that script directly.

nvidia@omniverse:~$ /home/nvidia/.local/share/ov/pkg/isaac_sim-2021.2.0/isaac-sim.sh

The Drivers and GPU looks OK. Some questions to help me figure this out:

Are you originally installing and launching Isaac Sim from the Omniverse Launcher? Can you reproduce the crash with Create or other Omniverse apps?

Are you running on a local workstation or remotely accessing the workstation (via vnc or other). If remotely, do you have the workstation running Isaac Sim connected to a display monitor?

Hi,

Thank you for your response. Here is my answers.

Are you originally installing and launching Isaac Sim from the Omniverse Launcher?

Yes, I installed the Isaac Sim from Omniverse Launcher.

Can you reproduce the crash with Create or other Omniverse apps?

Other application like create was able to install from Omniverse Launcher but it could not run correctly.

Are you running on a local workstation or remotely accessing the workstation (via vnc or other). If remotely, do you have the workstation running Isaac Sim connected to a display monitor?

It was run on remotely accessing the workstation. As you can see form nvidia-smi, it setup on EXSi with Grid(vWS) env.

Is it possible to run the omniverse application on grid env?
Just for your information, I tried to run the script from terminal on VNC and showed the following errors.

Thanks, it makes sense now.

I’m not an expert in EXSi and GRID. You may need to get support from VMWare or NVIDIA GRID team and see if they support Vulkan applications. I have seen our Ominverse Apps working on VMWare Horizon though.

Our recommended method for remote/Cloud deployments of Isaac Sim is to use a headless container and streaming it using WebSockets. See 3. Advanced Installation — Omniverse Robotics documentation.

I can confirm that on the VMWare ESXI 7.0.3 neither Omniverse Create or Isaac Sim are able to run. The VM is Ubuntu 20.04 LTS with 16vCPUs and 24GB of RAM while the GPU is A4000.

In the case of Omniverse Create the splash screen remains indefinitely on the screen.

This is very disappointing for small companies/developers as the ESXi is good platform to reuse the hardware between day where creation work is done and evening where deep learning / simulations are run. Can you please coordinate any support across NVIDIA + VMware to resolve this issue?

Thank you

I have managed to make significant progress this morning on this issue. After checking that the VM is able to run

sudo apt install mesa-utils
glxgears

I launched Isaac from the command line as follows:

cd /.local/share/ov/pkg/isaac_sim-2021.2.0
MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=4.6 ./isaac-sim.sh

I was happy to see that the simulator was brought up and we are in the process of verifying that our existing bare metal experiments - see github link - will work identically in the Ubuntu VM (with A4000 passthrough) running in ESXI host and accessed via its esxi remote console (‎VMware Remote Console on the Mac App Store).

Thank you.

Similar error while installing Isaac Sim 2021.2.1 using Omniverse-Launcher as Nvidia tutorial.

Error occurred during installation of Isaac Sim: Command failed: “/home/ubuntu/.local/share/ov/pkg/isaac_sim-2021.2.1/omni.isaac.sim.post.install.sh”

Because, recently I am getting problem of remote desktop connection with AWS EC2 container of Isaac Sim AMI image, so I’m trying install Isaac Sim as the tutorial 2. Basic Isaac Sim Installation on a AWS EC2 instance by connecting Remote Desktop from my PC (It is not using Isaac Sim AMI image, instead, I’m installing on local computer of AWS EC2 instance directly from Omniveres Launcher, just using Remote Desktop)

But this installation error happens, and I cannot run directly as below because the isaac_sim folder does not exist yet:

/home/nvidia/.local/share/ov/pkg/isaac_sim-2021.2.0/isaac-sim.sh

I tried one more time and report again the symptom of the installation failure:

Environment
AWS EC2 g4dn.xlarge
Ubuntu 18.04 AMI Image
Isaac Sim native installation as written in the Isaac Sim tutorial

Problem 1
After installing Nucleus server, the ‘Search Service’ happens error as the photo below:

Problem 2
While installing Isaac Sim, it is stopped with the following errors and warning:
