Feasablity of CloudXR - AR app on Meta quest 2

Hi,

We have made a simple CloudXR powered VR app in Meta quest 2 with the Unity plugin. We are wondering if we can make an AR powered experience in a similar way?

What we are doing right now is running omniverse usd composer scene (VR->Start VR) along with steamvr on the server, and on the client we have our unity app running on the quest 2 (this app has the cloud xr unity plugin integrated).

While this is something that we are actively working on for future releases, AR/MR support for HMDs is simply not available for the CloudXR 4.0 SDK.

Just to head this one off at the pass: While we did announce library/protocol support for RGB+Alpha+Stereo at CloudXR 4.0, there isn’t an available CloudXR server that supports submitting/sending stereo RGB+Alpha.

Further, our own work on next-generation CloudXR with the Apple Vision Pro has shown us that we would actively discourage any attempt to do streaming AR without streaming depth for depth-based-reprojection. The resulting quality of experience is not sufficient to equal the streaming VR experience CloudXR can currently deliver.
