Jetson Orin Nano 8GB Dev Kit – No Display Output, Flash Failed via SDK Manager

Hello,

I recently received a brand-new Jetson Orin Nano 8GB Developer Kit, but it appears to be non-functional.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  1. Wrote the official Jetson Orin Nano SD card image on multiple microSD cards (tested on Windows and Linux).

  2. Tested with several monitors and DisplayPort cables (direct DP-to-DP, no adapters).

  3. Verified power supply with multiple PD-compliant chargers.

  4. The board powers on (green LED solid, fan spins), but the monitor always shows “No signal.”

  5. SDK Manager detects the board in APX mode, but flashing consistently fails.

  6. No serial output visible via USB-C at 115200 baud.

The board seems to receive power and enter recovery mode correctly but doesn’t initialize video or boot properly.

Could you please advise if this board might be defective and needs replacement?

Hi,

I think the points here are:

Is this your first time using a Jetson device and sdkmanager? If it is, then I think the point here is are you sure your host PC a proper one?
For example, not a VM and whether that type C cable is proper one.

How did you put the board into recovery mode? Any photo for your instructions?

What kind of flash failure did you see? There is “export logs” button on SDKM which you should click it and share whole log out after you got the failure.

Which Jetapck release is in use?

Type C USB does not truly give out the serial log. It should be the USB-TTL on the pin to give out true UART serial log.
