Perhaps the best solution to my Orin not working is just to return it to the vendor and let market forces grind away until Nvidia fixes whatever is wrong.
When a fresh SD card is started there are a few screen flashes that seem completely normal to my experience with Linux systems and previous versions of the Nano. A panther will appear as the background and then before presenting any setup such as language, time zone or EULA try to establish a WiFi connection and immediately hang. At the very least on would expect the startup code to see that there is also a wired Ethernet connection and just go with that and abandon any effort to use the WiFi. But NO it just hangs! This is VERY BAD behavior! The debug port is also dead. It’s certainly not responsive though it obviously works in the background as the host finds it at /dev/ttyACM0.
OK , if Murphy is going to be difficult lets try the SDKmanager. I’ve only been able to get this to function past step 2 after a fresh boot of the host, a Ubuntu 18.04, but not to completion.
My experience with the Orin is so different than that of the original Nano that I’m at a loss to know how to proceed.
