Jetson Orin Nano/NX not detected in SDK Manager after deleting CUDA/NVIDIA packages – Waveshare SBC2152 carrier board – How to reflash JetPack?

Hello NVIDIA Jetson Community,

I am facing an issue with my Jetson Orin Nano/NX while using the Waveshare Jetson Orin Nano/NX Carrier Board (SBC2152).

Previously, the Jetson was working fine, but by mistake I removed CUDA and NVIDIA-related packages from the system. After this, the Jetson OS stopped working properly.

Now I am trying to reflash JetPack using NVIDIA SDK Manager, but I am facing the following problems:

Issues

  • Jetson device is not detected / not recognized in SDK Manager

  • When I connect the USB Type-C cable between the host PC and Jetson, it does not appear in recovery mode

  • I am using a Waveshare SBC2152 carrier board, not the NVIDIA reference carrier

My Setup

  • Jetson Module: Jetson Orin Nano / Orin NX

  • Carrier Board: Waveshare SBC2152

  • Host OS: Ubuntu 20.04 / 22.04

  • Flash Tool: NVIDIA SDK Manager

  • Connection: USB Type-C

What I Need Help With

  1. Correct step-by-step procedure to reflash JetPack on Jetson Orin Nano/NX

  2. How to properly put the board into Force Recovery Mode using the Waveshare SBC2152

  3. Whether manual flashing (flash.sh) is required instead of SDK Manager

  4. Any additional drivers, board configuration files, or DTB changes required for Waveshare carrier boards

  5. How to verify USB detection (lsusb) and common mistakes

Any guidance or official documentation links would be very helpful.

Thank you in advance.

The NVIDIA instructions are specifically for their developer kits. Once you use a third party carrier board, then this changes (unless the third party carrier board happens to be an exact electrical layout match to the dev kit). You’d have to look up the documentation at Waveshare. If they say the instructions are to follow the NVIDIA flash instructions, then you can be helped here.
