NVDIA PX2-P2379 Booting Issue

Hi Team,

I am trying access the serial console of Tegra A processor in NVDIA PX2-P2379 board over ttyUSB2. After bootup the board, dmesg logs are stuck and further logs are not displayed in serial console. So, I am unable to access the file system of PX2 board. I am trying to bootup the board with the inbuild firmware only. Please help me to resolve this issue.

Can you check if Hardware Flow Control parameter is NO.
Please follow the the below steps.

  • run sudo minicom -D /dev/ttyUSB2
  • Press CTRL+A, followed by Z -> configuring minicom (i.e O) -> Serial port set up -> Hardware Flow Control

    Hi, I already verified the flow control parameter and it configured as is NO only.

    I didn’t updated the default Firmware. Since I am facing issue for accessing the console,unable to see the version through command. I Posted dmesg as a part above quer and that help you to find out the existing version of software.

    Over ttyUSB1 I am able to access the console of Aurix, please see the below details of existing firmware version;
    (But Tegra A & B is not accessible through Serial console)

    The Aurix FW version is too old.

    Regarding “But Tegra A & B is not accessible through Serial console”, you mean that the log contents that you initially registered were captured through minicom, but not now?

    Could you please check the AURIX switch into RUN mode or not?

    1. Tegra A and Tegra B logs are captured through minicom. The logs are latest and same behavior at initial time also. That means, I can see the serial logs, but it is stucked at particular place( please refer the above logs) and I cannot give any input through keyboard.

    2. I have checked the AURIX switch it is in the RUN Mode.

    As suggested in the document I have identified the latest package “DPX2-P2379-EB-V4.02.02_release” from the DRIVESDK directory. I have identified HEX file “DRIVE-V5.0.5-P2379-EB-Aurix-With3LSS-4.02.02.hex” “EB_TriLoad” tool. I hope this version “4.02.02” is fine for flashing, please confirm.

    I am facing issue in windows while establishing the USB connection between PX2 and windows PC. USB Devices are detected as “Quad RS232-HS” but driver is not identified with these 8 USB devices. Please help me to find out the proper device driver if required, or suggest me if I missed something.

    Thanks for your response, I am inline with the firmware version and able to locate the mentioned directory.

    I am facing the issue for establishing USB connection between PX2 and windows PC for serial communication.
    I am using the same cable which is shipped along with the NVDIA-PX2 Hardware box. But my query is,
    1) Should I install any serial driver in windows PC to establish the connection ? if yes, please share me the Serial driver which I can install in my windows PC.

    I am following the document “https://docs.nvidia.com/drive/nvvib_docs/index.html#page/NVIDIA%20DRIVE%20Linux%20SDK%20Development%20Guide%2FFlashing%2Fflash_aurix_dpx.html%2” and stucked in the part “Configuring the Windows COM Port”.

    From the section “Configuring the Windows COM Port”, it is mentioning to “Connect a USB cable between the Windows system and the NVIDIA DRIVE™ PX 2 debug USB port”, not talking any USB serial adapters. Please help me to understand the connection part.

    Thanks for the detail information of Hardware connectivity. I also done the same connectivity in my side.
    I have some progress please see the below points,
    1) I have tried to execute the flashing command using windows command prompt,
    EB_TriLoad COM3 …\EB-DrivePX-Aurix\DRIVE-V5.0.5-P2379-EB-Aurix-With3LSS-4.02.02.hex 35

    2) I am getting the output "programming data block to address 0xA0130800
    3) But after some around 30-40 seconds I am getting the error message, "ERROR: Hexfile download failed. Reason: Checksum error -quitting"
    

    From the document I think the issue is with the usb timeout, In the document its mentioned to increase the minimum read timeout from the advanced usb driver option, but for me this timeout option is not available. How I can further proceed. I am using “prolific usb-com” driver and detected as COM3 in my windows PC.

    Hi Steve,

    After the Aurix firmware up-gradation I tried to access the Tegra A and Tegra B console, but facing same issue i.e, unable to come-out from the console in minicom.

    I have tried the connection between USB-2 Hub HOST in PX2 and USB in Linux machine. Tegra-A is accessing through ttyUSB2 and Tegra B is accessing through ttyUSB6 over minicom.
    Please verify I am missing anything and see the hardware connection is proper.
