NVIDIA openSUSE Leap 42.2 Repository G02 RPMs Fail To Install

Fresh install of openSUSE Leap 42.2 on H-P XW-8600 workstation with a NVIDIA Corporation G70GL [Quadro FX 4500] graphics installed. Using NVIDIA’s repository at http://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/leap/42.2 attempted to install the G02 rpms (x11-video-nvidiaG02 304.132-9.2, nvidia-compute 304.132-9.2, nvidia-gfx02-kmp-default 304.132_k4.4.27_2-9.10) via zypper -v in x11-video-nvidiaG02 command.

Installation was done via command line in multi-user.target mode. Rebooted and then launched X server via startx – -logverbose 6 command. Ended up with black screen with movable KDE cursor. Connected via PuTTY and ran nvidia-bug-report.sh command. Generated this message besides the log:

modprobe: ERROR: could not insert ‘nvidia’: Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
NVIDIA: failed to load the NVIDIA kernel module.

Prior release of openSUSE Leap 42.1 with same hardware had no issues running 304.131 driver. Any helpful hints would be appreciated. Thanks.

I recently did an installation of opensuse leap 42.2 trying to install the nvidia GTX 1050. Unsuccessfully. Does not recognize the driver. Worse I can not add another monitor. Using fedora or ubuntu works normally.

Did you try .run installer from http://www.nvidia.com/object/unix.html help to fix this issue?
