I got a response from Customer Care regarding RMA for this device. They said that the warranty for the device is out because it was manuf. in 2018 and it’s now well beyond the 1 year warranty duration.
This is understandable but it leaves me holding the bag on it since I also can’t in good conscience sell it off on ebay without making it clear that it’s basically for parts. Like… there’s a perfectly good GPU on this thing… I’d like to get it functioning again somehow so I can run some LLMs on it! Even if I have to ship it to Louis Rossman and have him replace the eMMC or something :D

Will I be able to boot from SD card instead?

Will I be able to boot from USB? According to Boot Jetson AGX Xavier from SD card - #8 by WayneWWW, it is possible to boot from NVMe or USB. To set up a flash drive manually for booting
- For this method only, confirm that the device can boot successfully from eMMC. If it cannot, correct the problem by flashing to eMMC first.
I should also be dead in the water on this if eMMC is faulty and unflashable.

is eMMC also going to be involved with the process of booting from NVMe? If so then this thing may really be bricked.

I’m also pretty sure i won’t be able to get any boot logs out of the thing when it immediately goes into DFU mode upon booting up (lsusb: ID 0955:7019 NVIDIA Corp. APX)
I know that Xavier NX (prod SoM) can boot “directly” from NVMe. Supposedly by initializing their QSPI-NOR and not interacting with eMMC at all. But I do not know if the architecture for this Xavier AGX is different. I feel like it could well be.
