SD Interface write throughput

Hi @JerryChang @ShaneCCC,

On our system using the Jetson TX2 NX, we observe a maximum write speed of approximately 55–60 MB/s when using UHS-I V30 microSD cards with the onboard SD interface. However, when testing the same microSD card with an external card reader, we are able to achieve write speeds of around 80–85 MB/s.

Could you please provide insight into the potential limiting factors within our system that might be restricting the write performance compared to the external card reader? Additionally, is there anything we could do from our side—such as configuration changes, driver tuning, or hardware considerations—to improve the write throughput?

Hi,
There is one question, is the external card reader connected to USB or SDIO? It is possible throughput is different if you are comparing two different interfaces.

The hardware capability is stated in module data sheet. For TX2 NX, please check section 3.1 in
Jetson Download Center | NVIDIA Developer

It can support for SD 4.0 Spec without UHS-II.

Hi @DaneLLL ,

We used a USB card reader for this test.

In our case ,for UHS-I at SDR104 mode ,is 55-60MB/s maximum attainable write throughput through SD interface with Jetson TX2 NX? can we improve this by doing some software configurations or hardware considerations?

We are using L4T: 32.6.1 (JetPack: 4.6)

Hi @DaneLLL
A gentle reminder regarding my pending query.

Hi,
The throughput looks to be maximum capability of TX2 NX.
