SDK Manager fails to flash Orin NX 8GB (NVMe) on Orin Nano Developer Kit

I’ve replaced the default module on the Orin Nano Developer Kit with an Orin NX 8GB and am trying to use SDK Manager 1.9.2.10899 to flash Jetson Linux 35.3.1 BSP onto the attached NVMe from Ubuntu 20.04.6 LTS. The SDK Manager detects the NX module correctly and successfully creates the Jetson Linux image.

Note: Flashing the default Orin Nano module with the same NVMe on the same system works fine.

The flashing fails at around 98% and here are the errors:

The second block of errors appears 11 times and the last error twice. Attached are the full exported logs though it seems that the terminal inside SDK Manager shows many more errors like:

Any help to get this resolved quickly would be appreciated as I need to know if this is a software issue or a hardware defect.

I came across this post about flashing issues on the AGX Orin which seemed to have the similar types of errors. The suggested solution was to retry it on Ubuntu 18.04 which indeed worked for me on the second try, though the errors were the same.

Although my problem is fixed for now it’d be great if the NVDIA Jetson team could follow up on these issues and make flashing bulletproof.

Can confirm that flashing worked without problems after running:

sudo -s
echo -1 > /sys/module/usbcore/parameters/autosuspend
