Strange Texture Loading Behaviour When Using Python API

I am using some converted ShapeNet data. Everything looks fine from the GUI (See right hand image) but when I add the asset to the scene via the python API I get the following error and a default texture is applied resulting in the image shown on the left.

The first error is duplicated many times and for each material on the asset
