Struggling with dynamic sky animation

Hello all!
I am curently working with some sky animation and I can’t get it animated using Movie Type: Sequence, even when I animated the shader’s parameters like I used to do in the past, nothing animates buy scrubbing the timeline.
Only clicking play animates them, but again…when I launch the render set to Sequence, only my cameras animates, the sky stays still.

I also tried to drag and drop the Sky Shader to my sequencer but still no luck.

Perhaps @pekka.varis could give me some insights?
In one of your screengrabs in that post I can see that you render the sky animation using the usual sequencer.

Thanks in advance!

Hello!

I can try to see if I can animated something at sky.
In the link you pasted, I had just animated the camera also, at least on the guick look.
That was about the randomness and controlling it. So it was just successful test of two render passes.

Hey man! Thanks for the answer!
I wonder you mentioned there that you were only playing with the Time of Day parameters, right?

although I can find this menu anywhere…

I am just about to test that :)

SO it is here:

When you double click the Environment Cirrus for example, this is visible for me

Sorry, time of the Day parameter is not animated either.
See here my test:

So only thing I have animated with sky is dome light image based sky and then I have animated the intensity of it and rotation. That has been enough for my needs, for example here:

Thanks for checking on it! Appareantly we are having the exact same issues…with 2023.2.2 , I just did a test with version 2023.1.1 and it works…

Thanks Karol!
These were done in Embergen + standard cumulus clouds were from PixelLab stock. Animated in Composer, but yes we used Houdini on other phenomenons for this customer, TV station YLE ( like a BBC of Finland ).

Question to the developers - any chance to get the Sky keyframing fixed soon?

You mean being able to animate a dynamic sky ?

Yes, it seems that it is possible to animate the shader values until version 2023.1.1 but does not work in any of the newer ones (I tried them all)

Let me confirm and get back to you. Can you send me your scene that used to work ?

It is very easy reproducable, just it is basically what Pekka has shown in one of his videos above by keyframing the shader in 2023.2.2 and in the render is does not move. Taking exact same steps in 2023.1.1 would resolve in working animation.

Ok I will try it myself and find out what happened.

Thank you so much!

Any luck with this guys? I’m trying to animate a dynamic sky (basically moving the camera + adding changing the time of the day) but it doesn’t work :(( Please help if you know the answer, I want to finish my animation in the next couple of days… thank you!

@xr14 i think it’d be helpful if you can elaborate on what steps you went through and/or take screenshots from Composer (assuming that’s what you are using) to show the settings.

Thanks so much for your response. I have a basic scene and move set animation for my camera to move around the object (100 frames). I am using a dynamic environment (dynamic sky) and want my animation to show the light change from sunrise to sunset. And I have no idea how to do this :(
