TX1 & TX2 HDMI output resolution

I have two questions about the HDMI of TX1 & TX2.

  1. The data sheet shows the HDMI resolution of TX1 is 4096x2160 at 60Hz, TX2 is 3840x2160 at 60Hz. I would like to confirm if HDMI resolution of TX2 is really 3840x2160 only? Why HDMI resolution of TX1 and TX2 are different?
  2. If I use two HDMI outputs of TX2 at the same time, will the resolution(3840x2160 at 60Hz) be downgraded?

Hi ansonjh.lin,

I believe resolution support for TX2 is correct, but TX1 seems have some problem. Could you point out which data sheet you read?

As for question 2, it would not be downgraded. I guess your “downgraded” is for resolution, right?

Hi Wayne,

I refer to “Jetson TX1_Module_DataSheet_DS07224010v1.1.pdf”. You can find it in page2 “Display Controller Subsystem”. Please help to confirm the resolution, thank you.

Hi ansonjh.lin,

We do not have a formal test with 4096x2160@60 HDMI. Recently we have some tests of 3840x2160@60.

The modes in different monitors are not the same even if they share same resolution. For example, there are some monitors’ 4k resolution are not supported by our HW and thus we need to “downgrade” it to other modes.

If you insist using 4096x2160 or 3840x2160 resolution, it should be a CEA mode so that tegra can support.
