Hello, I am working on a project for work and wanted to know more about four particular parts that are located on the top and underside of the module on the NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX 16GB. I have been utilizing the thermal design guide on the Orin NX for my research on the module but found that “5V Inductor, VDD2 Inductor, VDD2 Regulator, and 5V Regulator” are mentioned but not described. What purpose do these parts serve in the module and what other parts of the module are they affecting? In other words, I want to know what they do in this module and what other parts do they regulate/affect in the module? Additionally, is there any other documentation such as circuit designs, schematics, tables, guides, or any other documentation that might assist in answering my question, as that might be extremely helpful. Thank you very much for any assistance, in advance!
Hi, such module info are not public. Those components are used as their names meaning. The TDG has given clear guidance on custom thermal solution design. If have, can you tell what the specific issue is?
Hello Trumany, thank you for the prompt response. There is no ongoing issue with these parts on my NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX 16GB. Rather, I was looking into these parts to understand their relation and usage with other parts of the module and what parts they specifically affect. The inductors and regulators are known in what they do, but I wanted to more so discover what other parts are being affected by these inductors and regulators and to find out what “VDD2” represents. The TDG gives great information but lacks when explaining the particular parts, offering a blueprint or circuit design. Additionally, would you happen to know the dimension size of the SoC on the module on the Orin NX, by chance? The TDG and other documents do not give the exact dimensions of the SoC, just the module. Thank you for your response and I look forward to hearing from you!
VDD2 is for DDR power supply. And for SoC location, as said in TDG: Design a die referenced thermal solution based on the 3D CAD model provided. You can get the 3D STEP file here.
Thank you for your continued assistance. To clarify, DDR power supply is in reference to “LPDDR5” power supply or could you please clarify what DDR is? Thank you for your help, I do appreciate it.
