customer service asked me to write something here: I have a jetson orin nano. Black screen after first boot. Tried SD in with DP cable plugged before power up, tried without sd and plugging DP cable after powering and nothing. Forum says I need DuPont cables to update firmware, I only have PI’s and they won’t work, I also I don’t have the skills to work with the cables. Can you send one nano with the potential firmware issue fixed? Or create an RMA to return product if that’s the only way to fix it. Thank you for your help. I feel embarrassed

Hi @francojf1,
Could you provide the exact filename or download link for the image you wrote to the microSD card? The required setup path depends on the JetPack version.
For JetPack 6.x, some Jetson Orin Nano Developer Kits with older factory firmware must first boot the updated JetPack 5.1.3 bridge image:

NVIDIA’s documented microSD-only update procedure uses a DisplayPort monitor and USB keyboard; it does not require DuPont wires. A USB-to-TTL serial cable is an alternative for headless access, not a requirement for the monitor-based procedure:
Please do not purchase any cables yet. Once we know the exact image you tried, we can determine whether the cable-free firmware update applies or whether the next step should be warranty/RMA handling.
Thanks.
Thank you for the link to the JetPack 6.x firmware update page. Unfortunately I can’t follow those instructions, because that procedure requires the developer kit to boot and drive a display, and mine produces no video output at all. The power LED is on, but I get no signal on the monitor — no NVIDIA splash screen, no UEFI menu, and no response to pressing Esc. I have tested with a direct DisplayPort-to-DisplayPort cable and with more than one monitor, connecting the display before applying power in each case, with the same result. Micro SD is empty. Since I cannot reach the UEFI menu, I have no way to check the firmware version or run the microSD update flow you described
