Description
The official NVIDIA Replicator “Hello World” example crashes when executed on an RTX 5060 Laptop GPU with PB 25h2. The crash occurs when semantic labels (semantics=[('class', 'label')]) are added to any 3D primitive.
Key observation: The same code runs perfectly without semantics (removing semantics parameter). The crash is 100% reproducible when semantics are present.
Steps to Reproduce
-
Create a new project from
kit-app-template -
Build and launch the application
-
Run the following minimal Replicator code:
import omni.replicator.core as rep
with rep.new_layer():
Add light
rep.create.light(light_type=“distant”, rotation=(315, 0, 0), intensity=3000)
# Create objects with semantics (THIS CAUSES CRASH) torus = rep.create.torus(semantics=[('class', 'torus')], position=(0, -200, 100)) sphere = rep.create.sphere(semantics=[('class', 'sphere')], position=(0, 100, 100)) cube = rep.create.cube(semantics=[('class', 'cube')], position=(100, -200, 100)) # Camera camera = rep.create.camera(position=(0, 0, 1000)) render_product = rep.create.render_product(camera, (1024, 1024)) # Writer writer = rep.WriterRegistry.get("BasicWriter") writer.initialize(output_dir="_output", rgb=True, bounding_box_2d_tight=True) writer.attach([render_product]) # Run rep.orchestrator.run(num_frames=1)
Expected Behavior
The code should generate synthetic images with bounding box annotations, including semantic labels (class: torus, class: sphere, class: cube) in the JSON output. This is the standard behavior documented in NVIDIA’s official Replicator tutorial.
Actual Behavior
Program crashes immediately when rep.orchestrator.run() or rep.orchestrator.step_async() is called. The crash occurs after objects are created but before any output is generated.
Note: Removing the semantics parameter from all rep.create.* calls makes the code run successfully (though JSON output lacks labels).

Request
Please investigate the compatibility between:
-
RTX 5060 (Blackwell / sm_120)
-
PB 25h2 (FSD enabled by default)
-
Replicator semantic labeling pipeline
The ability to programmatically add semantic labels is a core requirement for synthetic data generation pipelines. This crash makes PB 25h2 unusable for SDG workflows on RTX 50-series GPUs.
