I’m rendering out PtZDepth AOV with the RTX Interactive Path Tracing renderer and want to use it to calculate the world positions at each pixel and for training a gsplat model.
Main Issue:
When I rendered out the Isaac Factory looking up, I noticed that the PtZDepth values for the skydome outside the factory is 0.0 (which suggests that they are close). I would expect the values to be 1.0 as the sky is “infinitely far”, outside of the RTX depth max threshold.
Reproduction Steps:
- Download & launch Omniverse USD Composer
- Download Downloadable Asset Packs — Omniverse USD and open
Showcases_Content_NVD@10011/Samples/Showcases/2023_2_1/IsaacWarehouse/IsaacWarehouse.usd
in Omniverse USD Composer - Look up at the ceiling in the viewport (per attached image above)
- Set the viewport renderer to RTX - Interactive (Path Tracing)
- Set
Render Settings > Common > View > Debug View > Render Target
to `PT AOV Z-Depth* - See that the skydome outside has a depth value of 0 even though it is far away
Can also be reproduced by creating a new empty USD scene with a Sphere or any geometry. The depth values for the background behind the geometry are also 0.0.
