ChatUSD Not Working in Isaac Sim 5.1.0 – “DEGRADED function cannot be invoked”

Hello,

I was able to successfully use ChatUSD in Isaac Sim around October 2025, but recently it has stopped working.

When I try to use the feature now, it fails with an error message indicating that the function is “DEGRADED”. I have attached the full error log as a text file.

What I tried

  • Added my NVIDIA API key to extension.toml

  • Restarted Isaac Sim multiple times

  • Generated a new NVIDIA API key and replaced the old one

  • Tried again after restarting the application

Unfortunately, none of these attempts resolved the issue.

Error message

The error message indicates something similar to:

BadRequestError: Error code: 400
Function id 'xxxx': DEGRADED function cannot be invoked

Environment

  • Isaac Sim version: 5.1.0

  • USD Composer: Kit 107.3.0

Any help would be appreciated.

I will check for sure, but it sounds like, as expected we have degraded that model in favor of MUCH more sophisticated models for AI + kit. For example, writing code directly now with Claude. This chat usd was a very early phase test.

It looks like the ChatUSD model has been degredated.
