I understand but from a user point of view, it just works with “nouveau” driver and don’t works with proprietary driver.
It was working with my old 6600GT card and not with the next 2 nvidia card I bought. You and me was taking time to reporting/trying to understand this. Maybe other users will just say OK I stop buying Nvidia card as it just don’t work… (and obviously I will have this discussion in mind next time I need to buy a new card)
By the way, I 'm not even sure this is a Viewsonic issue, because the driver knows that the screen was connected to DVI, and as far as I know DVI does not support audio, so even if it detects that the sink in HDMI, as the video card DVI port is used it should not try to send audio …
