Exporting PTC Creo Assemblies with Mechanism Joints to Omniverse

Hi all

I’m working with a PTC Creo assembly that includes mechanisms (joints between different parts), and I’m exporting it using the NVIDIA Omniverse Creo Connector as described here: Creo — Omniverse Connect

The geometry and meshes are exporting correctly, but I’ve noticed that the joints (mechanical connections) are not being transferred. Is joint/mechanism export currently supported by the Creo Connector? If not, is there a recommended workaround or any plan to support this feature in a future release?

I’m using PTC Creo 9, if that helps.

Thanks in advance for any guidance!

Best regards,
Giulio

Good question. Thanks for asking. Let me ask our expert for CREO and get back to you

For the Creo connector, we have not implemented the transfer of joints and constraints data to USD; this would be a new feature request for the Creo connector.

Workaround options:

  1. Transfer PTC Creo data into PTC OnShape and use the Omniverse OnShape Importer.
  2. Manually rig the physics (joints/constraints) in the Omniverse Isaac Sim or Kit App Template of their choice.

FYI, the Unity connector is the only connector that supports converting physics data to USD
