That and I have to choose an ICC Profile and Adaptive sync to off or I get black screen delays when I exit full screen mode.
Hi All,
We have below updates on the following bugs.
5301317 Flickering and graphics corruption with Nvidia 4090 and 5120x2160@165Hz screen (LG 45GX950A-B.AUS) with driver 570.133.07
Status Update: I saw similar flickering on my test setup recently, checking if that’s’ the same reported here internally.
5301333 Loss of signal with Nvidia 4090 and 5120x2160@165Hz screen (LG 45GX950A-B.AUS) with driver 570.133.07
Status Update: Please test with latest 580 released driver and share test results.
I have the same issue with the same LG monitor. I use a Razer Blade 16 (2024) laptop with RTX4070 and v.581.80 driver version. There is the same issue if I set 165, 100 or 60 Hz refresh rate. I am using a HDMI - HDMI cable (2.2 but compatible with 2.1). With the cable included was the same problem anyway.
Is there any solution to fix the random flickering artefacts and the screen turning black every now and then?
I have a video recorded of the issue if needed.
Thank you
I have this exact same issue as your screenshot with the same monitor (LG 45GX950A). Running a 5090, 580.82.09, Pop_os! 22.04, over hdmi 2.1. It works fine on lower resolutions - including 5k2k@100hz - but pushing to full 5k2k@165 makes it grumpy.
I’ve also been experiencing this issue in a similar, yet slightly different, form since upgrading to an HDR-capable, 4k 165 Hz monitor.
If I run the monitor at 4k 165 Hz I have noticed:
- Significant screen tearing on the right side (typically bottom-right) of the monitor during fast motion, e.g. moving windows, scrolling in a browser, during gameplay (although much less obvious), etc.
- I have experienced this while using the Niri, Jay, and Sway/Scroll Wayland compositors
- Visual corruption where windows appear to “tear” and “smear” during fast motion, typically on the right/bottom-right side of my monitor
- I have noticed this while using the Niri and Jay Wayland compositors, but not Sway/Scroll
I can capture video of these problems occurring if necessary.
These issues occur regardless of whether I’m using DP 1.4 or HDMI 2.1.
These issues do not occur if I lower my monitor’s refresh rate down to 144 Hz from 165 Hz.
It seems to me that there is a driver issue affecting either DSC or high refresh rates in Linux. These issues do not occur at all in Windows whilst running at 165 Hz.
I’m using CachyOS, RTX 4090 with the latest 590 drivers.
The same configuration, the same problem happened to me. change Prefer efficiency to Prefer color accuracy can solve the problem.
