GTX660MGPU - Horizontal Screen Tearing - Only VDPAU Stops

This is my system specs;

Asus G75VW - 17" 1920x1080
Slackware 14.1 x86_64
Openbox 3.5.2
Compton (git version)
GTX660M - (331.67 drivers)
i7-3610QM
xorg-server-1.14.3

When I play videos in full screen throughout the entirety of a movie, I will typically see throughout it slight horizonal tearing, some times it also appears as ripples on the screen too.

To start this report out, I’ve tried every setting possible I could think of as well as options I’ve read online, along with different drivers and different video players, mplayer, smplayer, vlc and mpv, the only way I can get rid of the tearting is only by using vdpau in the video players, except VLC, vdpau does not seem to work properly.

Also with or without compton I still have tearing…

I’ve tried also 3 different versions of drivers; 331.20, 331.49, 331.67 none of them has helped.

I dual boot with Windows 7 and VLC does not show any signs of tearing in Windows 7, this makes me think it’s a lack of driver support in Linux.

Also I’m not sure if I should be able to use all video options as; xv, x11 gl, etc… and not see tearing in any of these options, or vdpau is going to be the only way I can use this GPU, but if that’s true, then I’m assuming the same applies for Windows?

If using vdpau is the only correct method, then there is no bug, if not, and I should be able to also use any video option as an example and not see tearing, then it seems like there’s a bug that needs fixing.
