How to create local server without Omniverse Launcher?

Hi all,

Since Omniverse Launcher will be deprecated, so I open USD Composer using CMD.
However, I need to create local server to make live connection with my simulation software.
I cannot find it where without Launcher? I am new here. Any tutorial about this?
Thanks

Although we have depreciated launcher, we have not forced removed it so if you still have it installed, you are still free to go ahead and use it. I’m assuming you still haven’t installed correct?

We are not supporting a local nucleus workstation anymore. Live workflow is still possible through an enterprise nucleus. You can download the whole sack for free on our website www.ngc.nvidia.com. If you just want to exchange data between software, you can import and export USD files.

What simulation software are you referring too?

Yes I haven’t installed the launcher because I thought there will be another one which I can install through git. But now I have and it works.

I am using Plant Simulation from Siemens and I want to combine it with Flexsim in USD composer. Do you think it is possible to make them live connected?

Yes it may be possible, as long as you can get the old connectors to work. We are not supporting all connectors now. We are focused on USD export and import, rather than connectors.

Hey Richard,

Just want to follow up, As you said that “we have depreciated launcher, we have not forced removed it” but why we cannot install nucleus/USD composer from launcher now? For some new people (for learning and trial purposes), it will be much easier to allow them to install directly via launcher. But now it returns “Cannot sign URL, the server has returned HTTP429”.

I am not sure I follow. As I said, Launcher has now been depreciated. You do NOT need Nucleus at all to learn OpenUSD and kit and python. If you are learning the best thing you can do, is to download kit 108.1 kit app template, clean, without launcher and nucleus.

If you want to use Nucleus, there is still Nucleus Enterprise on www.ngc.nvidia.com. There is also a video guide you can watch on our documentation page.

I know it is depreciated, but why the permission to install is stopped?
Well, for some cases (at least the case I showed in this post) it certainly needs nucleus.
Yes, I saw that video also. But it requires Docker which is not that really flexible for constrained environment and fast learning. Is it possible to install Nucleus Enterprise without Docker?

No, unfortunately. Nucleus Enterprise requires Docker. I am afraid, there is nothing further we can do. Launcher and Nucleus Workstation is gone. Kit still lives on. The new kit 108.1 is out and it is amazing. You do not need Nucleus to use it. Let’s close this thread.
