Isaac Sim fails to start, prompting a driver error (although the graphics driver already meets the requirements)

When I start Isaac Sim 4.5 or 5.0, I keep getting an error. The error message is:

**
2025-10-22 06:44:15 [10,459ms] [Error] [gpu.foundation.plugin] The currently installed NVIDIA graphics driver is unsupported or has known issues.

Reason for failure: The minimum Omniverse RTX requirement
Installed driver: 535.18
The unsupported driver range: [0.0, 535.129)

The recommended drivers: 535.129.03 (GameReady, Studio, RTX/Quadro, Grid/vGPU)
The latest driver version may also work but is not fully tested.

2025-10-22 06:44:15 [10,459ms] [Warning] [omni.hydra.rtx] HydraEngine rtx failed creating scene renderer.**

But in reality, my graphics driver already fully meets the requirements.

The same problem I meet today in container development. A few days ago, my container worked fine.

@thuaj I reinstalled Isaac Sim, but I’m still getting the same error message. I think it might be caused by an automatic update to my computer’s graphics driver. However, I haven’t found any solution to fix it.

however I cannot find 535.18 driver anywhere. Why it says my driver is 535.18

@thuaj I can’t find a solution for this issue either.

@Julie_A @thuaj I noticed similar driver mismatch in the error message and the NVIDIA-SMI as this thread:

would you be able to verify if the responses suggested in the thread are helpful/relevant?

Hi @thuaj and @Julie_A,

Thanks for sharing your observations — it sounds like both of you experienced Isaac Sim failing to start even though it had been working fine earlier.

To better understand your two cases, could you each share whether the failure started right after any system or driver update? e.g. upgrading to 535.274.02.

@VickNV @thuaj @Simplychenable

While I was using Isaac Sim, the graphics driver updated automatically to version 535.274.02. After that, Isaac Sim became laggy. When I closed and tried to restart it, it started giving error messages, and the screen inside Isaac Sim was black, with no objects visible.

Subsequently, I updated the graphics driver to version 570.195.03. Currently, it seems to be working fine, and the issue appears to be resolved.

Hi, the same situation in my side. After Isaac Sim failed to detect the GPU, I checked and found that my GPU driver had been automatically upgraded to version 535.274.02. I reinstalled the driver to version 570.195.03, and now it works fine.

This problem is triggered by recent updates to NVIDIA drivers in the 535.x branch (e.g., 535.274.02), where Isaac Sim incorrectly flags supported drivers as “unsupported” due to a Vulkan version overflow bug. The bug results in the Vulkan API reporting a minor version lower than the actual installed version, causing the RTX driver verification to fail and the application not to start, even on compatible hardware.

Solution:
Upgrade to the latest recommended NVIDIA driver as listed in the Technical Requirements — Omniverse Developer Guide. This will avoid the problematic minor version range.
