Jetson Flashing 5.3.1 fail at 99% in Ubuntu 18.04 and 20.04

I am downgrading my Jetson Orin Nano 8GB Developer Kit jetpack from 6.0 to 5.3.1 which would involve downgrading the firmware from 36.x to 35.x etc. , while using the SDK manager , I get this same error on both 20.04 and 18.04. The flashing goes to 90% or 99% . Then after “sending blob” , i get this
“Applet/MB2 not running on device” for a while then error comes

Hi,

I have a few questions to confirm:

  1. Have you successfully used SDK Manager to flash the Orin Nano with your host?
  2. Is your Ubuntu 20.04/18.04 installation running on a physical machine or a virtual environment (e.g., WSL, VMware, VirtualBox)?

Thanks

Hello,

1.Flashing fails at 99% with this error, I also checked it manually and the jetson wasnt flashed.
2. Its not running with VM , I dual booted both 20.04 and 18.04.

It has a 128GB SD card

Thank you!

Hi,

Please execute the following commands on your host PC and then try running the SDK Manager again with minicom recording UART log:

sudo -s
echo -1 > /sys/module/usbcore/parameters/autosuspend

Please refer to this to record UART log

Thanks

Sir , the TTL to USB cable arrives in two days to check UART log, In the mean time could you suggest any other debugging measures as I have a competition in three days. I understand that this is an unconventional request , but please assist me in flashing this Jetson.

Thank you for your patience.

Hi,

You could refer to this doc to manually flash

  • Navigate to the directory ~/nvidia/nvidia_sdk/JetPack_5.1.3_Linux_JETSON_ORIN_NANO_TARGETS/Linux_for_Tegra and run these commands:
    sudo ./apply_binaries.sh
    sudo ./tools/l4t_flash_prerequisites.sh

  • Verify that your device is in recovery mode by this section.
  • And follow the section to do related flash command.

Thanks

Hello,

I tried to follow the same instructions from the same forum including the flashing instructions from cmd , but it still got stuck here , it waited for an hour and still no progress.

02:32:37 INFO: Flash Jetson Linux - flash: [ 6.2218 ] Retrieving storage infomation

02:32:37 INFO: Flash Jetson Linux - flash: [ 6.2230 ] tegrarcm_v2 --chip 0x23 0 --oem platformdetails storage storage_info.bin

02:44:26 INFO: Flash Jetson Linux - flash: [ 2644.5984 ] tegrarcm_v2 --chip 0x23 0 --ismb2

Then I ran this command trying to debug

**sudo ./flash.sh -c bootloader/t186ref/cfg/flash_t234_qspi.xml --no-systemimg p3509-a02+p3767-0000 nvme0n1p1**

I accidentally ran the command fully and it said “successfully flashed” etc , Later I realized that this command is for Nvme / orin nx and not sd card . I think it changed some bootloader configurations and I am not able to start flashing from SDK , earlier i just had some small error at the end , now it doesnt even starts flashing. Now it doesnt even give output from DP to access BIOS.

Now i dont want to even downgrade , I can manage with Jetpack 6 , but due to some corruption in bootloader or firmware ,I am not able to do anything.

Thank you for your assistance.

Hi

this config is for Orin Nx + Xavier NX devkit related doc.
Is your dev kit using a orin nano devkit or the xavier nx devkit?

Thanks

Hello,

Jetson Orin Nano Dev Kit 8GB , What damage/modifications could have this command caused my device.

Thank you

No, it is fine. Just run the sdkm again and will flash the device bootloader.

This time, could you run the sdkm manager and EXPORT LOGS when error occurred as shown in the image.

Thanks
