Hi,

Please check if your board is still able to get flashed by sdkmanager.

This issue is not possible to be fixed by using sdcard image. So please do not use sdcard image anymore.

Hi, I have 5 pieces Jetson nano 2GB, and all of them is not able to boot up, only the yellow led is lighting. I tried with different SD cards, with different power supply. There is no possibility to connect via serial. How can I start an RMA process?
Many thanks in advence!

Hi,

Please try to use the sdkmanager to flash the board first. As I said in previous comment, this problem can only be fixed by sdkmanager.

Hi Wayne,
Sorry for my late reply, it took several hours to try flash the boards. Actual situation: Successful flashing, at the boot works the hdmi output, there is a nvidia logo and after some error messages, and extremly slow goes the boot process (more than 90 minutes until finally stuck) and at the end stuck without GUI.
The First messages:
imx219 6-0010: imx219_board_setup: error during i2c read probe (-121)
imx219 6-0010: board setup failed
tegra_cec 70015000.tegra_cec: timeout in tegra_cec_native_write_i:172.
cp: not writing through dangling symlink ‘etc/resolv.conf’

after about 45 Minutes are coming after every boot steps the same error message:
tegra-i2c 7000c700.i2c: no acknowledge from address 0x54
i2c i2c-3: clk rate 50000 not supported

I found other interresting thing: My carrier boards are P3541, but in the SDK Manager is only P3542 carrier board for 2gb version to check for flashing.
Please for your support!
Best regards!
Gyula

Please also show the log from uart console.

Also, since you have 5 jetson nano 2gb, please flash them all and share the result.

Thanks for your quick answer. I flashed all boards with the same result. I will check the uart console messages today evening, tomorrow i give the results.

Hi,

Please also share us how many jetson nano 2gb boards do you have on your side.

Are they all using the same carrier board or all of them are devkits?

Yes, all of them has own devboard.
Which uart header should I use? J41 or J44?

For nano 2gb devkit, please use the uart over the J12. TX/RX/GRD

https://developer.nvidia.com/embedded/learn/jetson-nano-2gb-devkit-user-guide

Some clarification here:

It sounds like your first time using SDKM to flash the board and the problematic boards still not able to boot up

There could be some possibilities:

  1. The boards really have problem

  2. The BSP downloaded by SDKM has problem. Maybe not clean or the host environment is not expected.

For case (2), it could be clarified by using other jetson nano 2gb devkit which not included in these 5 problematic kits. If other kits can get flashed and have gui with your sdkm, then we can consider the BSP is ok.
If these 5 kits are all the nano you have, then we use the uart log to see what is going on.

It is unlikely that 5 kits all get broken simultaneously. I believe this is still an issue fixable by software.

Originally was 24 Kits, and only this 5 was not able to boot. Unfortunately I don’t have any acces to the 19 ok Devkits. I belive like you, that is 5 board with the same issue is very suspicious, because the same symptoms, and I hope, that could be fixed by software.
On host side I installed a clean ubuntu 18.04 and SDKManager. I tried with older version of the client jetpack version, what was selectable via SDKManager, but with same results.

There is the UARTserial Log from the first one:

Hi,

Please share it as a text attachment. It would be hard to check if you paste more and more logs afterwards.

ok,i try

Here are the logs of all devkits:
Jetson 5.txt (19.6 KB)
Jetson 4.txt (19.1 KB)
Jetson 3.txt (19.6 KB)
Jetson 1.txt (19.6 KB)
Jetson 2.txt (78.2 KB)

Jetson2 again checked.
Jetson 2ver2.txt (19.6 KB)

Hi,

It looks like every board is booting into kernel but somehow gets stuck. There are some checks to do here

In brief, we directly skip the “first configuration” that would show on the GUI first. If you ever checked the log over a fine board, you will notice the uart log will stuck and wait for the first configuration finishes to move on.

Thus, to prevent such case, there are two methods

Method 1. Please remove the monitor and reboot your jetson, connect the micro usb cable to the flash port on nano and your host PC. Check if there is /dev/ttyACM0 on your host side. If there is, using serial tool to open it and you shall see a screen as described in " Headless Mode Flow in oem-config" section in below doc.

https://docs.nvidia.com/jetson/l4t/index.html#page/Tegra%20Linux%20Driver%20Package%20Development%20Guide/flashing.html#wwpID0E03E0HA

Method 2. If (1) got failed, it possibly means the kernel doesn’t boot up so the usb device mode fails to launch and you will not be able to see /dev/ttyACM0.

Then the alternative is we directly skip the oem-config. The method is also listed in below link with title " Skipping oem-config"

But this requires you to flash the board manually. Which means you cannot rely on sdkm directly. SDKM should already install a “Linux_for_Tegra” folder on your host ~/nvidia/ path.

I am not sure if you have any experience with manual flash before, you didn’t try that before, check “Quick Start” section here.

https://docs.nvidia.com/jetson/l4t/index.html#page/Tegra%20Linux%20Driver%20Package%20Development%20Guide/quick_start.html

After the OEM is getting skipped, share me the uart log again.

Hi Wayne,

i flashed manually and skipped oem. I tried only on the number1. Symptomes are the same. Logs attached.
Jetson1 Manual flash logs.txt (17.0 KB)
Jetson1 after manual flashing and oem skipping uart logs.txt (19.6 KB)

Thanks for sharing log. There is no need to try other boards at this moment.

Please go to your Linux_for_Tegra/rootfs/boot/extlinux/extlinux.conf and remove the “quiet” inside this file.

After that, re-flash the board again and share me the log. This will enable full kernel log.
