Jetson Orin AGX 64 not possible to flash or doesn't enter force recovery

Hello,

we are trying to reflash the Orin AGX 64GB. It is accessible via ssh or debug port. We have tried to bring it into force recovery via software or with the buttons. The screen stays black for 30s and then boots normally. Attached is the logfile. With our Jetson Orin Nano there is no problem to get it in force recovery. During the 30s it is not accessible with the flash.sh skript or the sdkmanager.
Best regards
Felix

Hi felix.krauter,

Are you using the devkit or custom board for AGX Orin?

Could you try running sudo reboot forced-recovery on your board to enter into force recovery state?
Please note that you have to connect the Type C cable between your board and the host.

Hey,

i connected the usb c and the micro usb cable. sudo reboot forced-recovery has the same result. And we are using the devkit.

It is not the expected result to me.
After you run sudo reboot forced-recovery in serial console, is there any log showing?

Have you also run lsusb to check if the devkit is in force recovery state?

there is for 30s no log, and then it reboots. With lsusb you also dont see the force recovery mode. Just the normal usb connection

Could you refer to the steps in How to update Jetson Orin AGX to Jetpack 6 via USB or SSD as Jetson can't boot to desktop - #4 by KevinFFF to enter into force-recovery state?

It should work since it is the HW method to enter into this state.

Hey,

we also tried that, you don’t see it with lsusb and ./flash.sh also doesn’t detect the board.

If it can not enter force recovery mode through button, it may be the HW issue. Do you have another AGX Orin devkit to verify?

Hey,
I have no 2nd Orin AGX, but a few Orin Nanos. I flashed theme several times without any issues. The cables and the flash script, all worked correct.

So, there may be the HW detect on your AGX Orin devkit.
Please request for RMA process if you’ve confirmed that the issue is not caused from the cable and you still can’t enter into force recovery state.
