Maximizing GPU and CPU Utilization for Improved Simulation Speed in Isaac Sim

Hello,

I am currently setting up a simulation for conveyor automation in Isaac Sim, and I am encountering performance issues. The simulation is running too slow, even though neither the GPU nor the CPU is being fully utilized.

Here are a few details about my setup:

  • The simulation involves a complex conveyor system with object detection and automation components.
  • While monitoring system resources, I noticed that both the GPU and CPU usage remain well below their full capacity during the simulation.
  • My goal is to maximize the usage of my system’s resources to improve the simulation speed.

I would appreciate any advice on how to:

  1. Optimize Isaac Sim to fully utilize available GPU and CPU resources.
  2. Adjust settings or configurations (e.g., physics, rendering, or simulation time step) to speed up the simulation.
  3. Identify any potential bottlenecks that could be affecting performance.

If anyone has experience optimizing simulations for performance in Isaac Sim, I would love to hear your suggestions and best practices.

We have documented a few ideas that may help in our speed-ups doc.
