NSight is stuck in searching for attachable process

Since yesterday, NSight fails to connect to the spawned process,

I was using NSight Graphics 2025.4 and received a notification about 2025.5,

So, I updated the drivers and installed 2025.5,

Here’s what the application says about my set up:

INFO: GPU info:

  • vendor: nvidia (vendor id: 4318)
  • architecture: lovelace
  • device: NVIDIA RTX 2000 Ada Generation Laptop GPU (device id: 10424)
  • description: D3D12 driver version 32.0.15.8208
  • WebGPU backend: BackendType::D3D12 (AdapterType::DiscreteGPU)

I am on Windows 11 Enterprise Version 10.0.22631

In my application, I see the “GPU Trace Profiler” UI with Data Collection staying at “Initializing”

In NVidia Nsight, I see:

Attempting to automatically connect…

Searching for attachable processes on localhost:49152-49215…

Searching for attachable processes on localhost:49152-49215…

Searching for attachable processes on localhost:49152-49215…

And it keeps searching and never finds anything

I am a bit puzzled as it was working two days ago.

Is there any log file or anything that I can look at and investigate why the connection fails ?

Hi jean-sylvestre.zirani1,

Thank you for using Nsight Graphics and providing your feedback. Could you take some additional try?

You mentioned “spawned process”, and I assume you have some “launcher”, could you take a try from a clean start (kill the launcher or restart your machine)?

Thanks
An

Hey An,

I start the executable from NVidia NSight with “Start Activity…”

I make sure it has elevated privilege

The executable itself is something I’ve built myself with visual studio, so there’s no other executable spawned or anything

I’ve restarted the machine and I can now connect

you can close this thread, thank you for your help!
