Screen randomly flickers/flashes to black on Kubuntu 18.04 with Nvidia RTX 2080Ti and driver 435.21

I am running a Kubuntu 18.04 system with two 2560x1440 screens: primary screen at 144hz and secondary screen at 60hz.

I am getting random black flickers/flashes. They happen at random times, but I am guaranteed to see a 2 to 4 instances in a work day.

I am encountering the same problem … random screen blanking. For me it happens about once an hour or so.
Card is a GTX 1050.
This issue has remained despite multiple updates of the kernel and drivers.
