SSD Drive mounting error on PCIe on Jetson TX2 platform

We have developed a customized platform using Jetson TX2 SoM that actually uses a Samsung SSD Drive for storing some data. The data flow from TX2 module to SSD drive is transmitted as follows:

The data from TX2 module is first sent to a PCIe switch through which the data is sent to X8 PCIe connector of our development board, from this board the data goes to a PCIe X8 to PCIe X1 converter, from X1 connector of this converter board, the data goes to ASMedia based PCIe to SATA controller board through the SATA connector of this board, the data goes to SAMSUNG SSD drive.

When I try to mount the SSD, my SSD is not being listed as device(sda) under /dev/ ,when I see the dmesg log, I see some PCIe Bus Error, I am not able to figure out what it actually relates to, Can anyone please help me sort out this issue.

I can’t answer, but you will want to also include the results of this:

So PCI can have more than one device, and a bridge can be part of the existing SoC on the module, or it can be part of the add-on PCIe card. Advanced Error Reporting (AER), on one bridge, shows:

First Error Pointer: <b>0e</b>

…this is non-NULL, and thus an error occurred. This is at the PCIe level, not at the end device. This was reported for a bridge, and so anything communicating through that bridge would also have an error. The ID of the slot for this bridge: “00:01.0”.

Another bridge device shows an AER error as well:

If a device communicates through a bridge with errors, then the device won’t work. Whether or not it is the device connected to the bridge which is in error, or the bridge itself, I do not know. However, any SSD going through this is unlikely to function correctly…if this is part of the chain of devices the SSD uses. The ID of the slot for this bridge: “02:08.0”.

Can you verify if these bridge devices are part of your add-on? Btw, you might find the “tree” view useful for seeing the chain of dependencies, “lspci -t”.

I have not attempted to see the meaning of the actual errors, but if this is custom, have you validated the signal quality?
