Substance Painter Connector Install Issue

I’m installing the substance painter connector, and I cannot get the substance plugin to appear in painter. I’m installing on a new computer, my previous computer i’ve used the plugin for years so i’ve grown familiar with how it should work.
I’ve tried everything from uninstalling and reinstalling painter, reinstalling the connector, the omniverse connector folder is in the “python>plugins” folder that it should be in.
Need this for work, would love some guidance.

What are the versions used, do they match up to previous? I havent used that before, I guess the plugin would go somewhere substance could recognize it, it could be not finding it.

As far as i know its installed in the right folder. This is for a work computer, i checked my home pc and the folder is in the same place and works perfectly.

Plugin folder is installed at:
Documents>Adobe>Adobe Substance 3D Painter>python>plugins>Omniverse-Connector

Substance painter Version 10.1.0

Omniverse SP Connector Version 204.1.315

hey Louie! i haven’t run into this yet, but a few questions that may or may not be related and just to help with the brainstorming:

  1. you mentioned a work computer, did you install SP as admin or user?
  2. when you compare the files in the Omniverse-Connector folder between home and work machine, are any files missing or have mismatch sizes? (if they are, we could probably rule out the connector installation)
  3. when you try running SP as admin, is the plugin remain missing?
  4. were there any python updates you had done on the home machine or environments that could cause it not registering in the menu?
  1. I have administrator priveleges to download and install whatever I need on this computer.
  2. comparing the files between home and work, there are a couple missing but I’m also using an older version of Substance painter. However, I copied the missing files and still the result is the same.
  3. Running as administrator leaves the same results
  4. I didnt have python installed on the pc, I’ve since installed and the issue remains the same

I have same problem with the latest Adobe Substance Painter version 10.1.0 and I already understood where the issue is comping from:

Adobe released Substance Painter 10.1 on 17.09. In this release they updated several libraries and therefore the Omniverse Connector does not work on the latest release. We need NVIDIA team to update the Omniverse connector for it to start working with future Adobe Substance painter releases. Current workaround is to use Substance Painter version 10.0

Release notes: 10.1.0 - Adobe Link
This version of Painter now uses Qt version 6 which affects the support of Python and JavaScript plugins. See below for more details.

Several libraries used by Painter have been updated, notably to match the VFX platform reference. Here are the new versions used in Painter 10.1:

Qt 6.5.6 (and PySide6 6.5.6) - Omniverse connector uses PySide2
Substance Engine 9.1.3
OpenEXR 3.2
Python 3.11
OCIO 2.3.2
OpenSubdiv 3.6.0

@kaarel1 great information, so thanks for sharing! let’s hope there’s going to be an update soon 🤞

Correct, we have not updated compatibility for Painter v10.x. You can use Adobe’s native Painter Export to USD functionality. We are moving away from Connectors in general as Adobe and Autodesk are taking on the responsibility themselves.
