Topic Description

Support Robosense Airy (LiDAR) Asset

Detailed Description

Hi,

I have already checked the current list of Non-Visual Sensor USD Assets, but the Robosense Airy model is currently missing.
I would like to request Robosense AiryLiDAR asset to be added to Isaac Sim.

Currently, this model is not included in the supported RTX LiDAR Assets. I have reached out to Robosense to request the official USD asset for this sensor, but **it has been several weeks without any response from their side.

Since the Airy sensor has a unique scan pattern, it is difficult to simulate accurately without an official USD file that reflects its specific characteristics.

  1. Does NVIDIA have any plans to include the Robosense Airy USD asset in the roadmap?
  2. Since communication with the vendor has stalled, could NVIDIA coordinate with Robosense to provide the official USD model for Isaac Sim users?

Having this official asset supported would be a significant help for developers using Robosense’s latest hardware in Isaac Sim.

Thanks.

Thanks for the detailed request and for already checking both the Non‑Visual Sensor USD Assets and the supported RTX LiDAR assets list.

At the moment, there is no official Robosense Airy USD asset or dedicated RTX LiDAR preset included with Isaac Sim, and there is no public ETA that can be shared for adding this specific model. That said, Isaac Sim and the underlying RTX LiDAR system do support representing custom LiDAR models via configuration of the sensor attributes on a USD prim, so it is possible to approximate the Airy using its datasheet parameters.

If you would like to model Airy yourself, the best reference is the RTX LiDAR extension documentation, which explains how to configure beam layout, FOV, rotation, and related attributes on a LiDAR prim:

@nebulae.k I am also facing the exact same issue, did you figure out a solution to it?
