Sorry, i meant, how can i run a standalone Isaac Sim app, like isaacsim-app-template/source/standalone_examples/hello_world.py at main · isaac-sim/isaacsim-app-template · GitHub with kit version >= 106.5.3 ? Or how can i get the isaacsim python module in my generated kit app?
Oh I don’t think it works like that at all for Isaac. Isaac is its own thing. It does not integrate with the Kit App Template at all.
Isaac Sim is not a module. It is its own Template with unique and power extensions.
What are you trying to do overall? Have your own app capable of bringing in all the functionality of Isaac Sim?
Ah, i understand. Thank you for explaining!
What are you trying to do overall?
I just want to keep working on Isaac Sim and Isaac Lab projects (on Ubuntu) after upgrading to a 50xx GPU.
Hi, @Richard3D. I would like to rebuild all functionality of isaacsim 4.5.0 with kit-app-template (kit 107) as a workaround to continue on my work.
I tried copying templates files and apply isaacsim.exp.*.**.kit dependencies form this repo GitHub - isaac-sim/isaacsim-app-template: Isaac Sim App Template into “kit-app-template” and do create new isaacsim template and rebuild with repo.sh.
The build failed. It seems like the tool can’t locate some dependencies in the registry for kit 107. Do you have any suggestion for resolving this? Does It make sense to rebuild Isaac Sim with kit 107 in this way?
I need full functionality of Isaac Sim or may be at least 70% of it. Two month waiting for the new update is too long.
Yea – also facing a similar issue on a Blackwell GPU. Would very much appreciate it if there was a way to expedite this patch in Isaac Sim as I know many people are currently blocked by this.
I am sorry you are both experiencing this delay with Blackwell at Isaac Sim 4.5, but I have to say that trying to build Isaac Sim with Kit is not gauranteed to work. FIrst of all, you would have to use the older kit version of 106.5, because Isaac Sim is based on 106.5. You cannot use anything kit 107. Second, not everything in Issac Sim will be available in the kit 106.5 registry.
We are very close to an Isaac Sim 5.0 release. We may be able to get something out early this month. However, if you cannot wait, can you simply not put back in the old video card you upgraded to? Just for a few months? In general, this is a good point to make for the future. Do not upgrade to the latest hardware without knowing if the drivers and the software you need are ready for it.
First of all, Thank you for your reply and the Isaac team effort to solve this issue for community as fast as possible.
My previous GPU is 3060Ti and just decide to upgrade to 5070 a couple day ago. To plug it back is not an option due to the low performance of 3060Ti.
In my opinion, official Isaac Sim 4.5 Requirement & installation doc should state this issue more clearly because it is where new comers and typical users look for.
Anyway, I will work on cloud deployment instead. If Isaac Sim 4.5 is unable to build locally with kit 107.
Yes a cloud deployment is a good solution until we get the new version out.
My short-term solution until Isaac Sim 5.0 has been to use the interactive renderer that uses path tracing instead of the real-time renderer, which therefore bypasses the DLSS issue. It’s obviously a little constraining with respect to performance but fine for now. Thanks for your help.
Yes also a great solution. Better quality and you have a 50 series that can handle it.
Thanks Richard, it is good to hear that version 5.0 is right around the corner. I built a home workstation with a 5070Ti primarily to work on IsaacSim and was quite disappointed when it failed especially given that the release of both the hardware and IsaacSim 4.5.0 was within 2 weeks of each other, and from the same company.
We were also considering going with RTX pro for our lab workstations but I hope you appreciate it can be very hard to make any decisions especially for smaller labs when both software and hardware go through breaking changes 2-3 times a year.
Fingers crossed we get v5.0 soon. I haven’t run any training on rendered images yet, how would this renderer issue affect that?
My graphics card is 5070Ti and Ubuntu version is 20.04. I want to install the 570 driver now, but it always fails. May I ask, what version of kernel should I choose? And will there be a situation where the WiFi module is not available
Do we have any updates on this? This issue needs to remain open, it has not been solved.
If version 5.0.0 is months away, it would be good to know that now so I can plan better. In that case even just a v4.6 with Kit upgrade to 107 would help.
The new Isaac Sim 5.0 is very close to being released. We have to find the right drivers that will work best with the 50 series. It would be a very good idea for you to install the latest Kit app Template as well to test your current card and drivers with Kit 107. You can do most things you need in composer and test workflow.
For the new Kit versions, you have to use our “kit app template”. You have to do a small amount of building to use it, because we are moving to a developer focus, but it is easy. Do you want to install the USD composer.
Follow these instructions:
1. Download "git" from https://git-scm.com/downloads
2. Start a windows command console by using running "cmd" from the Windows Start menu
3. Navigate to the root of c: or d: drive. Example "cd\"
4. Copy and run "git clone https://github.com/NVIDIA-Omniverse/kit-app-template.git"
5. run "cd kit-app-template"
6. run "repo template new"
7. run "repo build"
8. run "repo launch"
Could you please check if this rendering issue persists in the Isaac Sim 5.0 developer preview?
It is available for access via the official Isaac Sim GitHub repository. Testing with this newer version will help us determine if the issue has been addressed in recent updates.
I’m using RTX 5070 Ti, on Ubuntu. The rendering issue is gone for me using Isaac Sim 5.0 preview and renders fine using RTX - Real-time. Looking forward to its stable version release.
For the 5.0.0 release here (GitHub - isaac-sim/IsaacSim: NVIDIA Isaac Sim™ is an open-source application on NVIDIA Omniverse for developing, simulating, and testing AI-driven robots in realistic virtual environments.), how can I install it in my python environment to run the standalone examples? The instructions just seem to show how to build and then launch it by running ./isaac-sim.sh. When I try to run the standalone examples, I predictably get this error: ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'isaacsim'
You can just open Isaac Sim normally and then open the example files. You don’t have to do it all from the command line.
